Let us help you make the most of your Clare Valley Gourmet weekend with this guide to the best events!

Our favourite time of the year is fast approaching again—Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend is coming up this weekend (May 18th to 21st) and bringing with it a celebration of the region’s award winning wines, local food and country hospitality.

More than 30 wineries participate in the event, with numerous special events and degustation dinners. The program also features gourmet markets, a gourmet hub and an art exhibition, all amongst a gorgeous autumnal landscape. With so much to experience, we won’t blame you for getting a little overwhelmed with excitement! Where do you start first?! Well, we’ve put together a list of the best events you won’t want to miss to make the most of your weekend!

Shut The Gate Wines—STOKED

The hellfire brigade from SEED Winehouse & Kitchen are teaming up with the Shut The Gate Wines pyromaniacs to bring you a Sunday full of fire, food and fun with the Latino groovers from the awesome Macumbia live!

Join them in the morning 9am to 11am with a breakfast of campfire toasties and tunes—munch on jarmon and provolone, wood grilled mushroom or spinach and jack cheese toasties. Or head on in for lunch from 12pm to 4.30pm for ribs, roots and roosters! Think stick smoked beef short ribs, hot coal grilled cheicken, open flamed vegies… snack on jalepeno, corn and manchigo fritters, fish and chip pluto pups, charred tomato sauce and moreish more.

Satisfy that craving (we know you’re mouth is watering…) on Sunday 20th May by booking your spot via Shut The Gate Wines or SEED!

Four Play On The First Day

This masterclass features a mouth-watering three course feast sourcing local produce created by Andre Ursini from Andres Cucina and boasts wines from four award winning producers, Koonowla, Rieslingfreak, Kirrihill and Woodvale Wineries. You’ll taste current releases, back vintages and wines to compare and appreciate the wonder and beauty of the iconic Clare Valley Riesling.

The whole experience is hosted by winemakers, John Hughes, Kevin Mitchell and Will Shields, and will be accompanied by chilled acoustic tunes presented by duo Cloudy and Gian, amongst the tranquil surrounds of the Woodvale gums and vines.

Head on over to Woodvale Winery at Woodvale Vintners 334 Hughes Park Road Penwortham on Saturday 19th May from 10am to 4pm. The masterclass is $45 per head and bookings are essential, so secure your spot here!

Four Play in the Valley

If wine is a little less your thing (whaaaaat?) and it’s food that gets you going, then maybe hit up Woodvale Winery on Sunday 20th from 10am to 4pm when Andre Ursini cooks up Italian Street Food featuring his famous gnocchi with lamb ragu, sugo, lemon zest and parmigano (vegetarian options available!), antipasto of prosciutto, mortadella, smoked wagu and more! House baked brioche, with polenta chips, manchego cheese, lettuce and spicy mayo. Count us in!

There’s also music brought to you by the iconic Adelaide band the Uptown Seeds. Contact the team at [email protected] to secure a spot for yourself!

Bum Around In The Barrel Store

Still dreaming about those gorgeous summer days we’ve left behind for now? This is the event for you! Get your beach bums to Claymore Wines for a post vintage chill out session. Keep those summer feels going with wine, singing, dancing and (perhaps most importantly) eating! Our friends at Beach Bum will be cooking up their Hawaiian-Japanese fusion food—we’re talking lobster tacos, vego tacos, tuna, salmon and vego poke bowls, teriyaki chicken and few other delicious options. Enjoy your fusion food while listening to live music by Tyson Pedro.

The best part about this event? It’s free, family friendly (there will be a face painter in the kids corner!), and the first 150 people through the doors get lei’d! So make sure you’re one of the first to arrive at Claymore Wines (7145 Horrocks Highway, Leasingham 5452) on Saturday 19th for this family fun day that goes from 11am to 6pm.

There will also be a range of specialty CVBC brews including a Gourmet Weekend exclusive ‘CVBC Blackberry Porter’, a range of Jeanneret wines, delicious sangria and the return of their frosé.
