Adelaide has taken out yet another Lonely Planet accolade! Our very trendy West End has just been named as one of the top three coolest neighbourhoods in Australia to visit right now!
Of course, here in Adelaide, we all knew how cool the West End of the city is, good to see the rest of the world catching up! Who doesn’t love a stroll down Hindley to get to Peter Rabbit for a quick brunch? Or even beginning a night at the newly refurbished West Oak Hotel?
As Chris Zeiher, the author of the South Australian chapter in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017 knows, this area was “previously maligned for its salacious past…” but is “no longer a no-go zone.”
Zeiher sugggests a “wander down pedestrian friendly laneways home to award-winning bars and restaurants such as Pink Moon Saloon, or sample freshly farmed Coffin Bay oysters at Adelaide Central Market.
“Visit the new futuristic SAMHRI building and marvel at its dramatic juxtaposition to the colonial beauty of the precinct’s other architectural gems such as Adelaide’s GPO.”
Here at Glam we’ve watched and cheered as the West End grew into another Adelaidian entertainment hub, with live music, dancing, small bars, cafes and galleries, and really, we couldn’t be more excited to see it highlighted by the absolute authority in travel!
