Walk A Mile And Show Your Support For Adelaide’s Homeless Next Week

There are 6,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia alone. That’s 6,000 too many. Join The Hutt Street Centre on Friday 10th August for their annual Walk A Mile In My Boots charity event.

Each year the Hutt Street Centre calls on South Australians to show their support for people facing homelessness by joining them and experiencing what it is like on a cold, winter’s morning to walk one mile to find something to eat, a hot cup of tea or coffee, and a friendly face. And it’s almost time for the 2018 Walk A Mile In My Boots.

Homelessness is a large issue, with over 116,000 people in Australia experiencing this disadvantage.
60% of people facing homelessness are under 35 years old…18,000 of those people are under 12 years old.

There are nearly 6,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia every year. That’s 6,000 too many people facing poverty and disadvantage.

For people experiencing homelessness, joining them to Walk a Mile in My Boots will help someone doing it tough realise they are not alone. Because no person who is homeless should feel like they’re walking alone.

This is a great cause and something that everyone should partake in to get a glimpse of what it is like every day for some people.
