After coming out on top at the local South Australian Teenage Fashion Awards, Ana Samaras took her win to the National level.

After her state win, Ana qualified for the 2018 National Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards (AATFA). The gown was so impressive she took her win to the next level, snatching first place in the Formal Wear category at the national awards.

A huge congratulations to Ana, who spent approximately 540 hours on the award-winning gown! The labour of love turned out to be well worth it, as she also won highest technical score in Australia.

The AATFA gives young fashionistas the opportunity to design, manufacture and model their own designs. Students like Ana combine their practical and creative abilities to create unique pieces that fit in a series of categories before the national finals.

The categories include Casual Wear, Formal Wear, Society &Environment, or Wearable Art, with other prizes awarded to the Designer of the Year, Creative Designer of the Year, and the Photographic Fashion Award.

If you’re seriously considering a future in fashion or if you know any budding creatives, then check out the AATFA requirements here.
