4. SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival: February 15 – 17

Think colourful marquees, fashion on the field, trackside entertainment and an abundance of local Kangaroo Island food and wine. The SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival is a ‘must do’ on the South Australian event calendar. The Cygnet River Racecourse comes alive with great country racing on Thursday 15th (casual race day) and Saturday 17th February 2018 (when race-goers like to dress up in true racing style).

The Kangaroo Island Cup Long is another must do on the Saturday, where you can enjoy a stunning 4-course menu prepared by Sue Pearson from ‘Two Birds and a Squid’ accompanied by a selection of Dudley Wines and beers. Book early as tickets to this popular lunch event sell fast.

5. Crush Festival: January 26 – 28

One of our favourite three-day summer festivals will be taking place in the Adelaide Hills over the Australia Day weekend. Starting Friday January 26 2018, the Hills reason will be overflowing with delicious and local foods, events to suit all, and of course, lots and lots of wine! Whether you’re hoping to enjoy a fine piece of theatre, an 8-course dining experience while overlooking breathtaking vineyards or witness live street artists battle it out, make sure you add this one to your diary. 6. Adelaide Strikers: January 9 & January 17

Cricket. We’re not sure the majority of people care about much else if the 40,000+ strong crowds at Strikers home games is anything to go by! Well, we’re mid-way through the season but the Strikers team still have two games left at the great Adelaide Oval. So gather the fam, get your fan gear out and head down on the 9th or the 17th (or both) to catch some of the best young players in Australia before they’re snapped up into the national sides. Also, give our Captain, Travis Head, some extra loud cheers before he joins the AUS ODI team for the Gillette ODI Series against the UK on 14 Jan.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. There are plenty of reasons to get busy and explore our beautiful state this new year! For a closer look at all of the events on this month, make sure to also check out our must-do guide for January.
