FIRST LOOK: Winterfest kicks off at Port Adelaide This July

Port Adelaide’s Winterfest is back this year bigger and better after the overwhelmingly positive response last year.

Port Adelaide’s Winterfest is back this year bigger and better after the overwhelmingly positive response last year.

The 10 day event has been boosted to 17 now to include all of the July school holidays so that everyone can participate in the festival. Last year almost 60,000 people attended the event, this year the organisers and local businesses contributing are hoping that number shoots up.

The main attraction, the waterfront ice rink will once again be the centrepiece of the event, so dust off your skates, (or rent them at the festival) and enjoy the gorgeous ice arena. It doesn’t matter if you’re practically a pro or a beginner, the rink is for everyone.

If that’s not your vibe don’t worry, there will be workshops, children’s activities, food trucks, bars, market stalls, roving performers and free parking. The European themed festival will once again enchant everyone with its crackling open fires, twinkling lights, alpine style bar and bonfire sing-alongs.

The line-up for entertainment is going to be extended this year for Winterfest’s biggest fans, the children. There will also be more art and craft stalls.

What we can’t wait to check out however, is the new pop-up venue – the ‘Ice Cube’ – which will be there to provide us with comedy, cabaret and live music.

Another new addition in 2018 will be ‘Short Days, Long Lunches’, which will give local chefs the chance to showcase their talents with three-course meals and matched wines. You can also check out ‘Taste of Winter’, with South Australian brewers, distillers and winemakers offering tastings of their winter style beverages.

And just because we know you want more pics… here’s some of the markets…

Winterfest runs from Friday 6 July onwards till the 22nd of July.
