Thought The Dog Days Are Over? This Pup-Lovin’ Event Proves Otherwise

Complete with dog training demos, talks with dog behavourists, and a few doggy treat-filled stalls to reward your pup for being a good boy/girl.

Dog lovers of Adelaide, have we got news for you: Doggy Day on the Green is back for 2017! The City of Charles Sturt and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield have teamed up to make the event bigger than any year before. Head down to Point Malcolm Reserve on Saturday 26 August from 1pm to 4:30pm for a day of a fun, activities and treats for your four-legged friend.

The pup-lovin’ event aims to increase awareness and education about dog safety and responsible pet ownership, which is something they don’t teach you when you buy a pooch. The activities on the day include dog training demos, talks with dog behavourists, and a couple of doggy treat-filled stalls to reward your pup for being a good boy/girl.

There’ll also be $10 microchipping thanks to Chipblitz! Microchipping your ball of fluff is super important, because if your furry friend becomes lost, you are far more likely to be reunited if they are microchipped. Spaces will fill fast, register now to secure your spot.

While you’re there, take the opportunity to see the nearly-completed $1.2m upgrade to Point Malcolm Reserve before the official opening date of 21 October. It’s an exciting time in the City of Charles Sturt as they build today for the city of tomorrow, with a whole bunch of new projects underway.

The upgrade to Point Malcolm Reserve will see separate play spaces for junior and senior kids, a coastal-themed nature play area with a creek and sandpit, more irrigated grass and improved BBQ and picnic facilities. Sport lovers are in for a treat, as they also have a new full-size basketball court with lights, a soccer field, better paths for walking and cycling and an improved outdoor learning space with amphitheatre.

You’ll be able to see the entrance to the upgraded Point Malcolm Reserve with new signage and artwork to lead you into the fun-filled Doggy Day event.
