The Unley Gourmet Gala Returns For It’s 18th Year Tonight

Complete with SA’s best food, wine and fashion, the much-loved Unley Gourmet Gala Street Party is returning for its 18th year!

January is a huge month for Adelaide, complete with the Tour Down Under, cricket and endless summer festival fun all across the state. We think it is essential you make the most of it all. And the much-loved 2018 Unley Gourmet Gala Street Party going to be the place to be on January 16… trust us!

Complete with SA’s best food, wine and fashion, the Gala is celebrating its 18th year, making it the longest-running event presented in conjunction with the Tour Down Under. This year’s Unley Gourmet Gala will take place on the eve of the TDU Stage 2 from Unley to Stirling and is set to attract more than 20,000 people to King William Road. (So make sure to get there early!)

You can expect fashion parades from some of the City of Unley’s most iconic designers, live music, DJs, roving performers, all while sipping on a range of refreshing South Australian beverages including wine, craft beer, cider, gin, cocktails and sangria.

The free family-friendly event will also feature cooking demonstrations with local chef and 2016 Master Chef finalist Heather Day along with fun-filled children’s entertainment from The Amazing Drumming Monkeys (thanks to Flinders Private Hospital), cycling craft, face painters and bike balloon artists.

City of Unley Mayor Lachlan Clyne said the Gala was a fabulous opportunity for Unley retailers and restaurants to present their finest offerings to tens of thousands of revelers at the lively street party.

“In 2018 we’ll have more than 30 gourmet food and wine stalls on offer in addition to King William Road
restaurants opening for longer and spilling out onto the street so that diners can enjoy the wonderful
atmosphere our annual Gala creates.”

Festivities for Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under will kick off from 9.30am the nest morning, with a breakfast and on-street entertainment from the Unley Concert Band before the peloton leaves for Stirling at 11am.

So make sure you head down to King William Road this January to be amongst the glorious South Australian summer evenings sampling some of the finest offerings from our beautiful state.
