Summer Beach Club Plans For Henley Beach

A new beach club on the sand, including pop up bars on the beach, lounge chairs, umbrellas and waterfront service are all proposed for Henley Beach ahead of Summer and New Years.

If you’ve been to Henley Beach in the Summer months, you may have already spied the little pop up business that appeared in recent years, offering up sun lounges and umbrellas for a small rental fee. Well that concept is potentially being ramped up, with potential plans for a Henley Beach, beach club, whereby punters can kick back in the sand, whilst enjoying food and drinks from the local traders. Best of all, if it goes ahead, you could be enjoying this decadent idea by New Years Day.

Some of the Henley Beach traders are backing the concept, with Gemma Antunes from the Henley Beach Business Association likening it to similar set ups on the Amalfi Coast or the French Riviera. The Association has submitted a proposal to council, which would open up the beach at Henley for trade during January and February, covering a 250 square metre area on both sides of the jetty.

It would operate between 3pm-9pm on Fridays and 11am-9pm on weekends.

With bars, and areas to kick back, it’s certainly a new direction for an Adelaide beach, and with many of the Henley bars and restaurants already trading to capacity during the warmer months, it gives visitors to the area another option to enjoy. This teamed with the opening of Melt, a new rooftop bar above it, and a fish & chip shop adjacent, will certainly see one of Adelaide’s most popular beachside destinations continue to dominate.

The proposal will go to community consultation as part of the process.

Stay tuned for any developments…
