Fig lovers rejoice!

The highly anticipated fig picking season has officially kicked off at Willabrand Australia, located in the beloved picturesque Glen Ewin Estate.

After a brief delay due to an unusually cold spring, the orchards are now open to the public, inviting everyone to partake in the joy of harvesting their own figs straight from the tree.

Originally scheduled to start on the 19th, the season is now in full swing from February 16th, offering a unique opportunity to visit the estate from 9am to 3pm on Fridays to Sundays until early April, or as long as the season permits. Monday to Thursday hours are expected to be announced soon.

With over 12,000 trees and five different fig varieties to choose from, Willabrand Australia, an award-winning family-owned business, is the perfect destination for an unforgettable day out in the hills.

But the experience doesn’t end with picking. The estate also features a Figbar, open Fridays through Sundays, where guests can unwind under the shade of London Plane trees and enjoy a refreshing drink, including the signature fig gin and cocktails crafted by Pot & Still.

For those feeling peckish, there’s the option to pre-order a picnic hamper filled with treats prepared by Glen Ewin’s chef. Book here.

Glen Ewin Estate, just a 25-minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD, is not only known for its bountiful orchards but also for its commitment to organic farming practices that enhance the natural flavors of their figs. Visitors can look forward to a hands-on experience, picking from a selection of figs that are as delicious as they are varied.

Admission to the fig picking adventure is just $5 per person, with children under 12 admitted free of charge, though they must be supervised.

All fig varieties are priced at $15 per kilogram, and visitors are advised to wear enclosed walking shoes, sunscreen, bring water, and consider long sleeves to protect against the sap and leaves.
