Ben hails from a Southern California college town, Claremont, and Charlie was raised in Memphis during the height of rockabilly which makes this duo so strange but so complimentary. They possess soul, pain, and perseverance in their record. Like the great Willie Dixon called blues, “the facts of life expressed through words and song,” and it’s never more relevant than to Ben and Charlie’s work.

“He is a living legend whose harmonica playing should be beamed into outer space to search for other life forms,” says Ben.

“On stage or in the studio – working with Ben Harper holds the same excitement I experienced working with Chicago blues legends back in the day,” says Charlie in return.

Touring as a five piece line up, Ben and Charlie are continuing their 5 year-old collaboration, releasing their first new music together since the 2013 release of their collaborative album “Get Up!,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums Chart, winning a Grammy Award in 2014 for “Best Blues Album.”  A musical expression of the kinship between the two, the album recounts both Ben and Charlie’s personal stories and adds to the sonic history of American struggle and survival.

See them at the Thebarton Theatre on the 14th of July, tickets go on sale on the 11th of May. Find more info on ticket sales here.
