Experience the sights and smells of Christmas with the only guide to Christmas markets that you’ll need this season! From handmade crafts, homewares, fashion and accessories to plants and workshops, there’s something for everyone.

Leigh Street Christmas Market – November 10 – December 15. Leigh Street, Adelaide. Back for their second year, the Leigh Street Christmas Market are rearing and ready for eager shoppers to do some Christmas buying. The street will be lined with entertainers, musicians, market stalls and childrens activities ranging from petting zoos to roving Christmas entertainers. This market is sure to be your one-stop Christmas shop. You can hit up the markets, free of entry, every Saturday between the above dates from 1pm to 4pm. Check out the Facebook event here.

Christmas Craft Market – November 4, Helping Hand, 7 Shackleton Avenue, Ingle Farm. Shop over 40 stalls of unique gifts, handcrafted items, pre-loved treasures and delicious baked goods. There will also be Devonshire tea and a sausage sizzle. Entry is free.

Wattle Street Market – November 10 and December 1, 85 Wattle Street, Fullerton. Tackle your Christmas gift shopping and support local artist at the same time. Wattle St Market is a pop-up garden market in Fullarton with a focus on local and handmade artisans bringing together an eclectic mix of stalls from fashion and accessories, organic soy candles, skin and body care, towels and linen, art, homewares plus lunch and snack options. Open 10am-3.30pm on both dates.

City of Burnside Christmas Market – November 11, Burnside Community Centres, 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore. Save the date for the Burnside Christmas Markets. This free event will have lots of fabulous stalls, a sausage sizzle, face painting, music, and a roving elf. You can catch this market from 1-4pm. Keep an eye out on their Facebook event here.

Fullarton Christmas Craft Fair – November 17-18, Fullarton Community Centre, 411 Fullarton Road. The 37th Annual Fullarton Christmas Fair is on Saturday and Sunday, with more than 40 local South Australian makers and creaters selling their handmade wares – Christmas decorations, wreaths, gourmet cooking, plants, embroidery, children’s clothes and gifts, felting, soaps, candles, leather work, jewellery and more. 9am – 4pm and entry is free.

Twilight Christmas Market – November 18, Largs Bay RSL Sub Branch. Shop for unique gifts from local makers at this twilight market. It’s on 3-7pm. Entry is free.

Bowderbird Design Market – November 23-25, Wayville Pavilion, The Adelaide Showground. The much-loved event and one of Australia’s leading design markets brings together work from more than 170 of the best Australian artists and designers. Shop and meet the makers, plus enjoy artisan-made food and drinks. Open Fri 4-9pm, Sat and Sun 10am-5pm. Entry $5 at the door, children under 12 free.

Mighty Magill Christmas Market – November 24, Morialta Uniting Church, Magill. Shop Christmas gourmet goodies, home-made cakes, books, Christmas gifts and crafts, plants, bric-a-brac and more. There will be a sausage sizzle, plus morning tea and lunch available. Open 9am-2pm. Free entry.

Glenelg Sunset Markets – November 25, December 9. Glenelg. The beachside market returns for the summer, with the first market (November 25) coinciding with the Glenelg Christmas Pageant. Shop from more than 40 stalls, plus there will be local eats and live music on site. Free entry.

Mawson Centre Christmas Market – The Mawson Centre, Mawson Lakes. Head to the Mawson Centre for their free Christmas Market. There will be more than 70 stalls selling Christmas gifts, food, kids clothes and toys, jewellery, candles and more, plus a jumping castle, face painting, henna tattoos and live entertainment. 10am-2pm.

Adornment Artisan Christmas Market – December 1, Barossa Regional Gallery, 3 Basedow Rd, Tanunda. Do your Christmas shopping in a local, unique and festive atmosphere, with more than 34 artisan stallholders from the Barossa and across South Australia, ranging from prints and cards, ceramics and sculpture, through to unique jewellery, textiles, homewares and children’s gifts. There will be local brews and wines, tasty treats, live entertainment and activities for the kids. 3-7pm. Free entry. 

Vegan Affair Christmas Market – December 2, Serafino Wines, Kangarilla Rd, McLaren Vale. Enjoy this 100% cruelty-free Christmas market in the beautiful locale of McLaren Vale, on what we are hoping to be a lovely summers day. With a gold coin donation upon entry, you are invited to browse a range of vegan businesses for unique gifts, watch and learn from cooking demonstrations and workshops, listen to live music, and indulge in vegan food/wine and more. Ebenezer Night Market – December 8, Ebenezer Place, Adelaide. Head over to one of Adelaide’s coolest locations, Ebenezer Place in the East End, to enjoy some fashion, jewellery and delicious food, and all sorts of unique artistic creations. Relax with a drink from the Market Bar whilst listening to some tunes from the live DJ and congratulate yourself for all that hard shopping! Read more about the upcoming event here.

The Parks Twilight Christmas Market, December 9, The Parks Recreation and Sports Centre, Angle Park. Head to The Parks for an afternoon of markets and activities for the whole family. Stalls will be selling homewares, jewellery, novelty and Christmas items, plus there will be live entertainment, food and drinks.

Christmas Gift Market At Plant 4December 16, Plant 4 Bowden, 5 Third Street, Bowden. This is the ultimate market filled to the brim with local Adelaide makers who spin, weave, grow, create and construct excellent handmade gifts, perfect for Mum, Dad, Nan, anyone really. Acoustic music is definitely on the cards, along with many a delicious food option. This event will be perfect for children too, as a the Kids Zone will be in full swing, which will include a visit from Santa Claus from 11am to 1pm. And for those above the ripe old age of 18, the Plant 4 Bar will be serving local craft beer, wine, cider and cocktails. Entry is free, so get on down to Plant 4 from 10am to 4pm on December 16. Gilles At The Grounds – December 16. South Boulevard, Wayville.  Stock up for the festive season at the Christmas edit of the popular Gillies At The Grounds in Wayville. 10am-4pm. Free entry.

Hahndorf Christkindlmarkt – December 14 – 16, C3 Church Adelaide Hills, Hahndorf. This market is bound to be nothing less than cute ‘n’ beautiful. Located in the German settled town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, this European-style Christmas Market will be making you nostalgic about that trip to Europe you took, minus the cold and/or snow. This free event will offer Christmas lights, stalls, entertainment, gifts, food, alcoholic bevvys and more, from 4-10pm, with Carols by Candlelight at 9:15pm every night. Gathered White Christmas Market – December 14-16, The White House Adelaide Hills, Hahndorf. Gathered Design Market heads up the Hill to The White House in Hahndorf for a special White Christmas Edition. Shop up a storm for yourself and your loved ones with over 60 stalls including homewares, candles, flowers, jewellery, kids, art, clothing, garden, skincare and more. Enjoy delicious food and drink in the garden whilst listening to live acoustic entertainment or try your hand at a workshop or two. Friday 5pm-10pm, Saturday 2pm-10pm, Sunday 2pm-10pm. Entry is free.

A Very POSH Christmas – December 15 – 16, Hart’s Mill, Mundy St, Port Adelaide. This event celebrates Adelaide’s local artists, designers and makers, showcasing their wares at this annual event. Stay tuned on the Facebook event for the lineup announcement. 

Blackwood Christmas Market – December 16, Waite Street, Blackwood. The annual market will have everything related to the festive season, from a huge range of homemade gifts, to festive decorations, food, and Christmas suppliers. There will be live music, food vendors, winery pop-up and plenty of activities for the kids. Free entry.
