Summer in Henley Beach got a big tropical injection, with a coconut kiosk popping up right at the jetty serving up fresh, flavoured coconut drinks, served fresh in the shell.
And now the kiosk has moved – to a permanent shopfront in Glenelg.
Coco Drop is now located in Moseley Square, next to Zambreros.
Beachfront kiosk Coco Drop is the creation of brothers Giuseppe, Jon-Luke and Stefan Casalbore.
The trio were inspired by a trip to the Middle East earlier this year, where they fell in love with drinking fresh coconuts at the resorts.
They decided to see if Adelaide would share their love for coconut drinks, and initially set up at Henley Beach.
Sitting right at the start of the Henley Jetty, the kiosk looked the part, complete with bamboo and a grass roof.
The guys crack the coconuts, which are imported from Thailand, right in front of you.
You can either drink the coconut as is, or you can get one of their special coconut concoctions. The original flavour has the coconut water mixed with coconut milk, or you can also get chocolate, tropical, or vanilla protein flavours, plus you can add chia seeds to your drink.
If you’re peckish, they’re also selling their homemade protein balls.
And Giuseppe says not to turn your nose up it if you think you’re not a fan of coconuts.
“Some people have a perception of how a coconut is gonna taste,” he said.
“But they have tried our drink and we have changed their minds. So it’s worth giving it a try – it is something different and it has surprised a lot of people.”
