Luckily for us, there are quite a few sensational glamping options within reach. From local Adelaide glamping experiences to outback adventures, you can now enjoy the best of our state while tucking up at night in high thread count linen.
Wilpena Pound Ikara Glamping Safari Tents
Jump in your car and head North. 5 hours from Adelaide, you’ll discover the beautiful Flinders Ranges, and Wilpena Pound – a fantastic camping destination which forms a base for many bushwalkers, and bush tours. In a secluded spot away from the main campground, 15 roomy tents with king-size beds, tiled bathrooms and timber decks are set among majestic red river gums and native pines.
With floorboards, solar power, running hot water, king size beds, fluffy towels, bedside reading lights, fresh coffee, ceiling fans and gas heaters, every creature comfort is catered for.
Each tent faces the eastern wall of the Pound, a rocky, rust-colored natural amphitheatre created by hundreds of millions of years of erosion.
Guests can choose from two options – a standard tent which sleep 2 people, and family safari tents which sleep up to 4 and have all the luxuries of the couples tents, with an annex added for the extra people.
As you’d expect with Glamping, there are luxury amenities in the tents such air conditioning, power, alarm clocks, a hair dryer, an iron, and an ironing board. There’s also a beautiful outdoor setting where guests can relax, and they can look at the stunning views from the comfort of their own balcony. Guests can also enjoy the luxury of daily room service. There is a mini fridge in the tents, along with facilities for tea and coffee making, and an iPod dock.
Prices start at $320/night. More details here.
Have you ever wanted to stay in a glamp tent like this one? Well here’s your chance! With the full outdoor experience of fresh air, looking at the stars and gathering around a campfire roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories, you also have the full luxury experience once you enter your glamp tent at Kangaroo Island. It’s the best of both worlds, and it is guaranteed to make you the envy of your friends!
The luxury safari tents at Kangaluna Camp are set in the stunning mallee wilderness region of the Gawler Ranges in South Australia.
The Gawler Ranges, 600kms to the North West of Adelaide on the Eyre Peninsula, is Outback Australia at its best. The diverse terrain changes from semi-desert to arid to eucalypt woodland, while the age old volcanic landscape is spectacular with its gorges and weathered rocky outcrops.
In Spring, the desert comes alive with a carpet of wildflowers covering the landscape, and has over one hundred species of birdlife with colours that are vivid and diverse! There are also many large kangaroo, emu and wombat populations, so it is pretty safe to say you will see plenty of them.
This is perfect for the nature lover who really wants to be away from tourist areas and experience some of South Australia’s finest scenery and wildlife.
Kangaluna Camp consists of three two-bedroom tents and a “swagon” – a renovated covered wagon with a Swag bed where you can gaze at the stars all night long. The roomy tents have a queen-size bed in one room and two single beds in the second. They also feature hot showers & flushing toilets (halleluiah).
The curved roof on the safari tent helps to cool the tents, as they always keep the air flowing. No vegetation has been removed from the site but the camp was designed and built using the natural fire breaks that the trees in this place create for their own protection.

Arkaba Walk & Glamping
The Arkaba Walk is redefining the classic Aussie ‘bush walk’, adding luxury touches to a four-day private hike in the Flinders Ranges. Traversing an ancient landscape and private wildlife conservancy, you’ll be immersed in the story of the land.
Convenience meets value on the Arkaba Walk package ex Adelaide. It’s your opportunity to experience the Clare Valley wine country and adorable outback towns on the road to Arkaba.

Each are slightly elevated with a half metre corrugated iron screen around three sides to give privacy, the fourth side is left open to the views over the countryside, while above you is the night sky and a canopy of stars. Each deck has been fitted with a sheltered area towards the back, where your swag beds will be placed in the event of wind or rain. Your bed itself is a ‘swag’ – the bedding of choice for generations of Australian pioneers, a canvas envelope that is comfortable and waterproof, protecting you from the elements. Inside each swag will be an all seasons sleeping bag with liner, which is warmed up with a hot water bottle during winter months. Find out more here.
Bellwether Wines, Coonawarra
Glamping is also on the cards in the fabulous Coonawarra region! Glamping was always on the horizon at Bellwether. It started with the flashest Dunny block any Shearing Shed has ever seen, then came the gently curved limestone roadway, water and power, and then their very first Bell tent. Erected on a timber deck and furnished with creature comforts, you can enjoy it year-round and be snug in Winter, but still enjoy the sound of the Kookaburras and Cockatoos. They already have six tents, four with Queen beds and two set up as twin singles.
Queen tents are $200/night including a bottle of Coonawarra Cabernet.
Twin singles are $180/night including a bottle of Coonawarra Cabernet.
The Eco Tent, Adelaide Shores
Definitely on the more affordable side of glamping, the Eco Tents are located at Adelaide Shores Big4 Caravan Park in West Beach. With a double bed and bunks, this 4-person tent does the important things like keeping the bugs out, while keeping you cool with a fan above the beds. With wifi on hand, it’s also quite a convenient way to experience glamping, while you enjoy the other perks of the caravan park, like their massive swimming pool. And it’s on the beach. Winning. Prices start at $109 per room per night. More info here.

Give Yourself Some Permanent Glamping Fun
While these aren’t tents exactly, they are definitely glam additions to any weekend jaunt you’re thinking of doing. We thought the OzShacks from Adelaide creators and manufacturers Jon and Nicola Bingham, were incredible, and gave us every reason we ever needed, to buy some land in some remote, beautiful spot, and set up camp (so to speak).
They hand craft everything to order – you decide the size, the shape, the finish that suits your needs and they create the outdoor room that meets your requirements. Think glamping but a tad more permanent. Perfection right?
So what are you waiting for? Time to plan your next big escape.
