Xtend Barre Launches in Adelaide, Exclusively at Club Rhythm

Heading to the bar with your friends could soon take on a whole new meaning in Adelaide, with one of the hottest new exercise workouts on the planet – Xtend Barre – hitting the city from Saturday July 30, exclusively at boutique health and fitness studio, Club Rhythm.

A progressive ballet barre fitness method fusing the Pilates’ principles of core strength and control with ballet movements, the high energy Xtend Barre Workout is a favourite with a number of Hollywood celebrities and now set to make its Adelaide debut.

Xtend Barre was developed in America by professional dancer and choreographer, Andrea Rogers and introduced to Australia late last year by her International Director, Rockell Williamson-Rudder. The method is designed to create longer, leaner ‘dancer-like’ bodies by incorporating strength, flexibility and endurance into one complete workout. Set to up-tempo music, each Xtend Barre class runs for 55 minutes and combines floor work with use of a ballet bar and props such as straps, balls, weights and stretch bands.

A hit in the eastern states, Club Rhythm is now introducing Xtend Barre to Adelaide – to complement its offering of personalised exercise classes and nutritional coaching. Classes will be hosted exclusively at the studio by South Australia’s only Xtend Barre-qualified instructors, partners Angela and Cyriaque Kinkingnehun. Both classically trained dancers and Pilates instructors, the couple discovered Xtend Barre after returning to Australia from successful careers on the international stage – including stints at the famous Moulin Rouge and Lido in Paris.

“The first time I did an Xtend Barre class, I was completely hooked,” says Angela Kinkingnehun. “Abs, glutes, triceps, biceps – every muscle group gets an intense workout. There’s the strength and stretching components of Pilates, along with the cardiovascular rush and lactose burn you get from dance – but it’s less aggressive than other high energy routines. The classic ballet positions, like plies and leg and arm extensions – bring a fluidity and grace to the workout and are terrific for promoting poise and flexibility. If you’re looking for a sculpted look and a toned butt – this is the workout for you!”

Angela and Cyriaque have been delivering Pilates and strength & conditioning classes at Club Rhythm for the past year and, from July 30, will present Xtend Barre classes exclusively at the studio’s premises in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide.

“Xtend Barre is a perfect fit for Club Rhythm and we’re already receiving lots of enquiries from people keen to come along to a class,” says Magda Trofin, Club Rhythm’s owner and nutrition coach. “Being Pilates based, it’s all about precision and body control and very much in line with our philosophy of helping people achieve their fitness goals through sound exercise principles.”

Xtend Barre exercises can be modified for beginners and advanced participants and no previous dance or Pilates experience is required. Each class is limited to six people, ensuring personalised attention and high supervision. While classes are offered to women and men – and Cyriaque can attest to the physical challenges the Xtend Barre Workout presents – Angela concedes the sessions are more likely to appeal to females, especially those who danced when they were younger or always wanted to try.

Club Rhythm’s Xtend Barre classes are $25 per person to attend, with discounts for multiple bookings and special introductory offers. For more info on pricing, class times and to book – contact the studio on Ph: 08 8267 5400 or visit www.clubrhythm.com.au
