Where To Find Adelaide’s Best Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Never fear Glam is here to help you through Dry July with an Adelaide based guide to the best non-alcoholic drinks!

Many of you may be wondering ‘how am I going to get through this month alcohol free?’ well Glam Adelaide has your back. You might want to bookmark this article stat, because this is going to be your saviour. If you’re participating in Dry July, you’re the designated driver, you have a bun in the oven, or you just don’t drink (yes those people also exist) don’t despair because we have scoped out the best mock-tails in Adelaide! Best of all, we’ve included some of Adelaide’s hottest bars so you can still bring along your drinking mates, because not every outing can be to a amazing vegan health food bar.

Beach Bum

Beach Bum is a Hawaiian/Japanese fusion restaurant in Adelaide – actually probably the only one – and they have some froth-worthy mocktails, with shaved ice and fruity goodness all year long. Here’s just a few to to wet the whistle on:

  • Islander Espresso – Iced as the locals like it w/ condensed milk
  • Bikini Atoll – Double knot those strings for a coconut water, pineapple, grapefruit refresh
  • Origami Tan – Sun blessed bodies love orange and hibiscus w/ a touch of mint.
  • Mojo Organic Kombucha – Strawberry Hibiscus

Bobaz T

Ever seen people walking around with little black pearls at the bottom of their drink? Well friends, this is bubble tea and it’s possibly the best thing since sliced bread. The fruity or milky, goodness has tapioca balls that float around and fly up the straw now and then, they are traditionally named Pearls. They are a great substitute for Dry July, but are available all day every day! Bobaz T boasts oodles of flavours and toppings:

  • Mango, Strawberry, Taro, Kumquat.
  • Pearls, Apple Jelly, Aloe Vera Jelly, Passionfruit popping boba, Lychee popping boba, Pomegranate popping boba, Pineapple popping boba, Goji berries, Basil seeds, Chia seeds.

Hispanic Mechanic

With raving reviews about the great atmosphere and funky interior the Hispanic Mechanic is well known for its House made Agua Fresca. Agua fresca is a light, non-alcoholic beverage served often by street vendors in Mexico – they make theirs from fresh fruit in yummy combinations. Mandarin, pear and ginger or red grape and fresh orange are some of last week’s combinations – these change daily.

  • Agua Fresca: house made juice (see daily specials for delicious combos)

Pollen 185

With fresh, local wholesome and nourishing food, Pollen 185 are absolutely smashing it in Adelaide, they make amazing smoothies, juices and teas, but an absolute standout for Dry July is:

  • Pollen Made Soda: Cold pressed ginger, orange & mineral water // Raspberry & Mint, Olde Timey Lemonade.

Henschke

Henschke is known for its beautiful wines, however they’ve also created an alternative for those alcohol free people, who still want to enjoy the scenery (who can blame them), available all year round.

  • Prue’s Verjus: Lifted fragrant, zesty aromas of citrus blossom and stone-fruits. The palate has fresh, juicy grape flavours with hints of tangy apple and stone-fruits, bright acidity and a crisp finish. It is perfect in a refreshing spritzer!

Hains & Co

Hains & Co have created a designated ‘Drive-By’ mocktail, that we guarantee will look better than your boozer friends this month. Formulated for the designated driver, this Mock-tail is not just a once off! The mocktail is shaken and double strained over a ‘Tiki’ mug (it looks awesome trust me), topped with ginger and Peychauds Bitters, it is a sure winner in dry July.

  • ‘Drive-By’: Pineapple juice, Orange juice, Lime juice and Orgeat.

Lindes Lane

Found down a laneway just off Rundle Mall, is this little gem Lindes Lane. If you haven’t heard of it, its a cosy little place with a gas fire and funky interior. Although mocktails are not on their menu, they often make them on request. Glam Adelaide has a special insight into some mock-tail options, that I have decided to name:

  • ‘Fruitalicious’ is a frothy wonderland drink of cranberry, orange, and pineapple juice, with a top up of soda and a garnish of seasonal or dehydrated fruit. If you’re lucky you might get some blueberry juice and mint! (The fruit juices may change due to stock and if you prefer sweet of tart flavours)
  • ‘Cherry Ripe’ is a choc-raspberry delight with a sprig of smoked rosemary to give it that edge over your friends alcoholic drink. You could have a guess on what is taste’s like or you could just read the name.

Lindes Lane also boasts an awesome range of wines, beers and ciders; a great place to take a group of friends who are a mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinkers as they celebrate their themed month “Rye July”.

Electra House

With a modern outlook, Electra House spice things up with a tart, savoury based mock-tail that will delight all! This mocktail has a sugared rim which sounds fancy, and somewhat difficult to navigate, don’t worry it will make an awesome Instagram!

  • Lemon, balsamic and basil soda with sugared rim.

Mayfair Hotel – HENNESSY Bar

The Mayfair is offering a virgin version of their signature cocktail ‘Honey Trap’ specifically for Dry July, so if this sounds right up your alley, make sure you get to the Mayfair Hotel within the month. The Mayfair Hotel has its own beehives that produce raw honey for use throughout the hotel.  It’s the inspiration for one of HENNESSY’s signature cocktails – the ‘Honey Trap’.  The non-alcoholic version includes a mix of honey and ginger shrub, freshly squeezed lemon, sugar and a drizzle of the Mayfair’s very own rooftop bees honey.

Patritti Wines

Patritti produce a range of sparkling grape juices with no alcohol, no added sugar and no artificial colours or flavours. With six juices in the range, they are packaged in a ‘champagne style’ ready for any celebratory occasion, or that extra pop in your week! You can taste all these products at their cellar door, where they have a range of award winning wines, to satisfy the drinkers too. You can also grab them online here – so when you roll up to the next dinner party, you don’t have to feel left out when everyone’s toting a champagne glass – and it’s way more interesting that just sticking to the waters.
