We’d all love to live the romantic Italian ‘lago’ (lake) lifestyle; wander down the cobbled road from our classic villa to the little osteria restaurant on the shores of Lago Como and indulge in a long and lazy lunch of fresh seafood, authentic pasta, delicious antipasto and more than a few glasses of Chianti. Unfortunately, if you’re not George Clooney, this kind of life is a daytime fantasy for most of us.
Here with the next best thing is Café Lago, an Italian restaurant and bar reopening after major renovations, on the shore front of the West Lakes marina. Lago offers you a modern Italian menu to enjoy along with the stunning waterside views – with classic Mediterranean offerings like pasta, paninis and piping hot espresso, but also classics like this delicious-looking Salt and Pepper Squid that’s perfect to enjoy by the lake.
Lago also have a definite focus on providing healthier options to those not looking to lounge by the lakeside. They provide any number of nutritious meal choices for those with active lifestyles without the time to prepare healthy options to fuel their workouts; all of which look as equally delicious as their more indulgent offerings.
Café Lago’s cafe and takeaway services are still open, and we’ve been told the spiffy new lakeside dining area will open in a few weeks. Follow their Facebook page to be the first to know when it does.
