It’s back! One of Adelaide’s favourite street parties celebrating the Santos Tour Down Under, the Unley Gourmet Gala on King William returns to the ever popular Hyde Park shopping and lifestyle strip on Thursday January 23rd, 2014, 4 – 10pm.
With a variety of great entertainment, fashion parades, cooking demos, bike racing, kid’s activities and a host of wining and dining stalls on the Road, the Gourmet Gala has something for everyone.
A highlight on the Opey Street Cooking Stage will no doubt be the cooking demonstrations by 2010 Masterchief Contestant Marion Grasby. Marion was a real favourite on Masterchief, and cooking aficionados will love her work at the Gourmet Gala. MC on the Cooking stage will be Great Australian Bake Off Contestant Monique Bowley.
Fashionistas will be well catered for too, with some of the Road’s leading boutiques featuring in the the Parades throughout the night.
The Shaolin Afronauts, Melbourne art-pop duo The Twoks and Lucky Seven Swing will be heading up the live music.
Many King William Road favourites and some newcomers to the Road (think Burger Republic Hyde Park, Antica Pizzeria and Zahr Mezze Cafe) will be taking their kitchens to the Road and serving up a variety of food for patrons to enjoy.
In the meantime, there’s some friendly rivalry happening on King William Road with their Christmas Window competition. Flourish Gift and Home picked up the judge’s prize this year, closely followed by Denim Iniquity and Liza Emanuele Boutique. Even some of the smallest shops got involved, with menswear shop Move Over Menswear managing to slip a golden reindeer into their window.
