UNCLE JED are going out in style, announcing a run of shows “FAREWELL UNCLE JED: HELLO LUNA GRAND” as the 2013 Australia’s Got Talent winners wave goodbye to their past with a change of name, a change of direction, and a final national tour to thank fans for their support.

LUNA GRAND is rising from the ashes of Uncle Jed to enable a focus on original music written from the heart. Originally from the Coffs Coast in New South Wales, the family band, who have become well known for their enlightening covers of Disclosure’s ‘Latch’, Jeff Buckley’s ‘Everybody Here Wants You’ and the song that won them Australia’s biggest talent search, Matt Corby’s ‘Brother’, is made up of brothers Danny and Shannon Stitt and their cousin Laura.

After years’ worth of long distance jams via email, the band made the move to Sydney in 2005 and began to pursue their career in music, under the moniker Uncle Jed – named after the siblings’ father and uncle “Jed”.

“The last few years have been a whirlwind for us. We are so grateful for the success that AGT has given us and the amazing connection we’ve had with our fans, but the time has come to move to a new phase and really bring to the world the thoughts and melodies that we want to express as an original independent band,” said vocalist Laura Stitt.

“The rebirth as Luna Grand is not just a rebranding, but a real change in the spirit of what we do. We have had fun interpreting other people’s songs, but being able to communicate our own feelings and experiences is something we felt we could better achieve with a fresh start.”

After releasing their first album in mid-2010, Uncle Jed performed to a sell-out crowd at The Basement and since then have received Triple J airtime, toured the east coast several times generating a loyal fan base, all of which can expect to get their first taste of Luna Grand’s new songs and new sound at a collection of live shows throughout April.

Attendees will also have the ability to snatch up a handful of EP’s made exclusively for the tour as a thank you for their support.

These upcoming shows will be the last for the band in its current form and is the final chance for fans to hear their favourite Uncle Jed tunes before the start of a new chapter for the trio.
