There is a lot happening in McLaren Vale in the upcoming months and Mitolo is celebrating the Winter festivities with an exclusive Truffle Dinner. If you’re not heading to Sea & Vines this is the perfect way to begin your Winter weekend.

Recently awarded 2018 Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat and selected to be one of Gourmet Traveller Wine’s 50 Top Wine Experiences In The World, Mitolo Wine’s, Bocca di Lupo, is hosting a Winter degustation – a six-course truffle themed dinner.

The dinner is being hosted on Saturday, June 9 at Mitolo’s McLaren Vale restaurant. With Champagne and caviar on arrival, guests will be treated to a degustation dinner starring rare, black truffles from Pemberton, Western Australia – one of the world’s most successful truffle regions. And of course, there will be Mitolo’s illustrious wine list to match the menu.

The event will be co-hosted by Bocca di Lupo’s head chef, Tom Jack and guest Sous chef, Tim Scott from Elements in Byron Bay.

Tom Jack said: “My food philosophy is basically finding an ingredient playing around with that ingredient in my head and creating something that you just don’t see on a day-to-day basis.

“I am excited to be sharing the experience with Tim and we have a fabulously creative and tasty menu prepared using some of McLaren Vale’s best produce to compliment the truffles.”

With Tim and Tom’s culinary creativity, the six-course truffle-themed journey is sure to delight.

Determined to push boundaries and experiment in third-wave Italian style, Tom is nevertheless focussed on making food for everyone, not just chefs and foodies.

Menu highlights for the evening involve truffles in a variety of recipes including ‘truffle macaron + pate’ and ‘beef fat brownie, truffle, buttermilk and coconut’, to spill a couple of courses.

Sommelier, Patrick White has carefully selected a range of wines to complement the chef’s menu. Some of Mitolo’s signature collection will be poured. These include ’2005 Savitar and a 2002 Serpico as well as an Italian chardonnay, Isole e Olena Collezione Privata.

The Mitolo family threw open the doors to its first tasting room and restaurant in November 2017.

The offering is an ultra-modern, architecturally designed structure incorporating 10 shipping containers, glass, concrete and timber and set against the picturesque backdrop of the Southern Vales wine region.
