Comedians across Australia agree with Zambrero: there’s nothing funny about world hunger. So a host of up-and-coming comedians, led by national ambassador Mel Buttle, have joined forces with the Mexican restaurant franchise to Stand Up and Be Counted on Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate Day next Thursday September 4.
All 53 Zambrero restaurants across Australia are hosting free, family friendly stand up gigs on Plate 4 Plate Day, on which Zambrero will donate two meals to the world’s hungry for every single burrito or bowl it sells.

Plate 4 Plate isn’t merely an annual charity event; it’s Zambrero’s reason for being, its everyday initiative to tackle world hunger. For every burrito or bowl (all the goodness of the fresh and healthy burritos without the tortilla) sold, Zambrero donates a meal to someone in need around the world or in an underprivileged Australian community. On Plate 4 Plate Day this turns into a double donation: for every burrito or bowl sold two meals are provided.
Since Zambrero was founded in 2005, Plate 4 Plate has donated more than 3 million meals. The meals are distributed by international hunger relief agency Stop Hunger Now, and in Australia through the country’s largest food relief agency Foodbank. Indeed Plate 4 Plate has proved so inspiring it has seen Zambrero receive two corporate responsibility awards and Virgin Mobile and Kellogg’s follow its lead recently.
So on Thursday September 4 grab your chance to Stand Up and Be Counted by dining at any Zambrero Mexican restaurant – while having a laugh as well.
