The New Lady Daly
The Lady Daly Hotel, Hindmarsh, has had its most dramatic refurbishment in over 100 years.
The Tribute Hotel Group, (who also own The Tribute Hotel Group also own The Haven Marina, The Hahndorf Inn and Wunderbar Bavarian Bar & Grill in China) – headed by Managing Director Andrew Holmes – has drastically transformed the previously tired pub to provide an elegant and revitalized social destination.
“This area is growing rapidly, and there is nothing else quite like The Lady Daly Hotel on the Western fringe of the city. The Lady Daly is a great option for local businesses. Being in close proximity to the Entertainment Centre it provides a cultured option for pre-dinner and after-drinks,” says Andrew.
While The Lady Daly retains its original fireplaces, leadlight windows, and exterior structure, the interior is unrecognisable with a vintage design. It features polished floorboards, lantern lighting, panelled ceilings and gold framed relics such as a whisky licence found in the ceiling, dated 1905 and a Pittman signature from the builder dated 1906.
The new concept & design was created by Andrew Schunke, and is based on the Victorian era as a nod to its rich history.
“There is such a story to tell, and it is communicated via the relics on display, the Old English design and even the menu. It is fascinating to know where it all began, before any of us were born,” he says.
The hotel was opened by Lady Daly – wife of the Governor of South Australia, Sir Dominick Daly. Lady Daly and Sir Dominick Daly were a popular couple, often gracing the newspapers of the time. The first licensee of the hotel was Mrs. Eliza Linn in 1864.
According to Eugene Lagana, Food & Beverage Manager of the Lady Daly, the response to the renovation has been very positive.
“For those who saw the hotel before the renovation know just how dramatic the change is for the better. People have been blown away.” He says. “We look forward to seeing a new demographic enjoy what we have to offer.”
Punters can expect DJ entertainment every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm, a Victorian era inspired menu, old-fashioned pub grub, decadent desserts and high teas. The hotel also caters for functions and kids discos every month.
The Lady Daly ‘Vintage Pleasures’ display affords additional charm to the hotel with Victorian era antique gifts for sale.
The official launch party will be a closed show this Saturday August 28; however will open to the public from 10pm.
VIP guests can expect Victorian era-attired ladies serving complimentary drinks and canapés.
