The Tale Of Australia’s Two Naked Magicians

Here at Glam Adelaide, we like to bring you stories about amazing local talent emerging and growing on the world stage. We have a tale about two naked magicians that completely fits the brief (even though they often don’t wear any).

Here at Glam Adelaide, we like to bring you stories about amazing local talent emerging and growing on the world stage. We have a tale about two naked magicians that completely fits the brief (even though they often don’t wear any). Truthfully however, even if it didn’t, we would have shared it anyway because, you know… naked magicians.

The Naked Magicians are undoubtedly the world’s funniest and naughtiest magic show. With a show featuring magic, mirth and more than a touch of mayhem, these two hot and hilarious Aussie magicians say abracadabra and take magic to a whole new level. But how did the two come to be? Well we caught up with them briefly and they let us in on their story.
Christopher Wayne, part of the Naked Magicians, says the show all began here in Adelaide.

“Mike and I started the show in 2014 here, in Adelaide, as a part of the Fringe Festival.” Chris says.

“The show at the time was a fun idea that we thought was different, and would be a few weeks of interesting shows.”

After a few self-produced runs in Australia that year, including Brisbane Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Fringe and across other  theatres, they took the show on the road in 2015, to over 30 cities around Australia, as well as a slot in the New Zealand Comedy Festival. It was here, Chris says, that they started to get international attention.

“At the end of that year we did a run in Hong Kong, and a week of trial shows in America – this is where our life changed.,” Chris says.

“In 2016 we played to 45 cities across America, and the American’s loved it immediately. We were playing 500 – 2000 people a show.

“At the end of 2016 we were booked to play a run on London’s West End, which was beyond a dream come true; and in 2017 the show returned to America, performing over 100 shows in 54 cities, as well as Canada, Edinburgh, and Hong Kong again,” he says.

Now in 2018, they are back where it all began, quite literally at this moment. Adelaide marks the beginning of a 45 city tour of the country, taking the show to every major and minor city across Australia.

“This show has changed our lives, and importantly – has given us the opportunity to introduce magic to millions of people around the world who may not have normally had an interest in magic,” says Chris.

There have also been many celebrity encounters with the boys. From Ben Stiller, to The Rock and David Copperfield, you can be sure that these magicians have done the rounds… with great praise!

Christopher and Mike were invited to do a guest performance on America’s Got Talent for a live TV audience of 16 million viewers. The duo caught particular interest in the eyes of famous supermodel, Heidi Klum, who showed a definite and obvious interest in Mike, quoting “I can’t believe how sexy you have made magic!”
