The San Remo Pasta Challenge – Tasting Australia

pastaTeams of two will battle it out, plate against plate, state against… wait, this is all sounding a little too familiar. While it may be a little early for another television cooking show, this weekend the Lifestyle FOOD Channel and Bank SA presents Feast for the Senses, as part of the Tasting Australia Festival 2010.

The San Remo Pasta Challenge is one of the exciting cooking demonstrations and will be on stage just near the Elder Park rotunda on Sunday May 2 from 11am, with some of Adelaide’s local media talent joining in for this fun filled day of challenges.

Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules SA contestant (and Glam Adelaide’s new Food & Wine Editor) Paul Wood will be teaming up with Dianne Mattsson from Taste at the Advertiser to whip up some culinary delights. Their opposition includes Paul’s MKR counterpart, Melissa and her new San Remo Challenge teammate Antimo Iannella from AdelaideNOW, as well as Jane Reilly from Network Ten, Natalie von Bertouch from the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Rob Chapman from Bank SA, and Carole Whitelock from 891 ABC Radio.

Pasta will be the dish du jour and the competitors will need to show some culinary flair, cooking dishes that they have never made before in a pressure cooker situation, trying their heartiest to impress the celebrity guest judges. After the first two rounds, the top two teams will battle it out in the purpose built Meile cooking pods hoping to take out the inaugaral San Remo Pasta Challenge trophy.

Celebrated Chef Antonio Carluccio, Adelaide’s Own Dorinda Hafner, and Executive Chef Adam Swanson (of Zucca Greek Mezze in Holdfast Shores) will be the judges for the San Remo Pasta Challenge event, which will be hosted by Channel Nine’s “Out of the Blue” personalities, Michael Angelakis and Michael Keelan.
