The Habit Of Art

NT Live is an initiative by Britain’s National Theatre to broadcast performances of plays onto cinema screens around the world concurrent with their London seasons.

Following the hugely successful launch of NT LIVE with Phèdre, NT LIVE continues with this new production from Britain’s most prestigious theatre company.

THE HABIT OF ART by Alan Bennett
Two performances only – SAT MAY 8 at 1.00pm & SUN MAY 9 at 1.00pm
Starring: Richard Griffiths  (The History Boys), Alex Jennings and Frances de la Tour.

“Hotly anticipated and hilariously provocative…” THE INDEPENDENT (UK)
“Another absolute cracker, often wonderfully and sometimes filthily funny, but also deeply and unexpectedly moving…The Habit of Art is a smash hit if I ever saw one.” DAILY TELEGRAPH

Bennett returns to the National following the huge success of his Laurence Olivier and Tony Award-winning play The History Boys with a new work The Habit Of Art. Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the new play involves W H Auden in his last years and includes a fictional meeting between the poet and the composer Benjamin Britten, who famously fell out in the 1940s after a long friendship.
