The Central Market Gets Even Tastier As Two New Must Try Eateries Open

When toasties and baked goods are involved, we are there!

As if we could love the Adelaide Central Market and its tasty delights any more, they’ve just gone and added two more lip smacking additions to their growing list of food venues, and we couldn’t wait to check them both out.

Thanks to the brilliance of Renew Adelaide, Friday saw the opening of both TOHSTI and Bodri’s Bakery. Baked goods galore and toastie deliciousness, come at us.

First we skipped to TOHSTI, where the childhood snack we love, the humble toastie, has become a bit more grown up, gotten even tastier (if that was possible) AND a lot more Glam (just how we like it).

We were greeted by house-made Espresso Martinis. What an entrance! And quickly learned that at this joint you need to prepare your waistlines for every type of deliciousness you could imagine, toasted between two pieces of bread.

The venue likes to kick it old school with a basketball ring inside, street art on the back wall and hip hop pumping through the speakers (this may not be the full time soundtrack, but we loved it nonetheless). This paired with the fact that the drink sizes available are the ‘Notorious B.I.G’, the ‘Biggie’ or the ‘Smalls’, Starbucks could learn a thing or two from this foolproof sizing system.

On to the main event, the toastie selection. Your menu choices are ‘Kickin’ It Old Skool’ (aka traditional), ‘Livin’ It Up’ (aka Gourmet Toasties) and ‘Sugar Daddy’ (aka Dessert Toasties). The faves we sampled from the gloriously large selection were:
Mozzarella on Fruit Toast – simple but filled with flavour
Bacon and Blue Cheese – salty and spectacular, a must for blue cheese lovers
Pate, Onion Relish and Cheddar – smooth, bitey and melty all packaged together
Mixed berries, Cream Cheese and White Chocolate – oh dear god, please give us seven more

After we wiped up our drool and politely excused ourselves we waddled across the pathway to Bodri’s Bakery. Starting off on Adelaide’s food truck scene (actually one of the first to do so), this amazing Hungarian bakery has now settled in Adelaide’s central hub for cultural food diversity.

Here you can grab all kinds of Hungarian morsels, and at lunch times full meals will be coming too! Our faves were the folded Sausage and Cheese Scrolls and the Sweet Ricotta Pockets, which answered our sweet tooth’s prayers.Bodri's

So if you’re craving something wrapped in perfect pastry or perfectly toasted golden marvellousness to please you inner child then this is the corner of the Central Market for you. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to day dream about carbs.
