The Adelaide Central Market has just announced the launch of its first-ever hardcover book and we are drooling.

Due for release in time for its 150th anniversary celebrations in 2019, Adelaide Central Market Stories, People & Recipes will tell the stories and share the memories of former traders and the familiar faces who make the Market the buzzing place it is today.

Readers will also be treated to 136 delicious seasonal recipes from the market’s passionate stallholders including Lucia’s iconic minestrone, Comida’s famous paella and Asian Gourmet’s laksa.

Written by Katie Spain and Fiona Roberts, the recipes in Adelaide Central Market Stories also feature family favourites from local and regional producers, along with market-inspired offerings from some of SA’s favourite chefs Maggie Beer, Adam Liaw and Simon Bryant, just to name a few. The book also shares stories about the iconic heritage location.

Adelaide Central Market Dr Nick Begakis said, “the Adelaide Central Market has been feeding out city, body and soul, for nearly 150 years”.

“This book brilliantly tells the market’s story from humble beginnings to a world-renowned cultural and culinary cornucopia.”

Each recipe included in the book also contains personal anecdotes, tips, and tricks while also celebrating the markets multiculturalism, providing education and inspiration around the seasonal produce.

Pre-orders of Adelaide Central Market Stories, People & Recipes are available now from adelaidecentralmarket.com.au or at the market office.
