The Adelaide Fashion Festival heads in to its seventh consecutive year in 2014 with an outstanding line up of talent and events unveiled over a ten-day program, from 17 – 26 October.

Presented by the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and The Parade, Norwood, one of Adelaide’s premier fashion destinations, the annual Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) is nationally recognised as South Australia’s premier fashion event; showcasing the State’s dynamic and innovative fashion industry.

With 16 events and 10 event partners, the 2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival Program will offer a variety of fashion experiences, including;

Face of the Festival Launch

Thursday, 21st August

Invited media, designers, sponsors and VIPs will come together at Tandanya for the unveiling of the Face of the Festival at an exclusive event.

2014 Adelaide Fashion Festival Official Opening Party

Thursday, 16th October

This invitation-only event sees Adelaide’s fashion elite celebrate the opening of the Festival, with guests treated to an intimate parade previewing the latest collections from the designers involved.

Variety on King William

Friday, 17th October

This popular fine dining fashion event will kick off this year’s Festival with the latest spring/summer collections from Adelaide’s most exclusive shopping strip being showcased on one of the longest runways in town. Guests will be seated alfresco style on the road and enjoy a sublime four-course menu oozing spring flavours created by some of the road’s favourite restaurants.

‘Vintage is the New Black’ Op-Shop Stylist Tours

Saturday, 18th October & Saturday, 25th October

Enjoy an afternoon of fun and adventure on the ‘Vintage is the New Black’ Op-Shop Stylist Tours. Hosted by vintage expert, Cassandra Liebeknecht from the Adelaide Vintage Expo, attendees will be taken on a visit to some of Adelaide’s best op-shops.

SA Designers Fashion Showcase

Saturday, 18th October

The SA Designers Fashion Showcase is the Festival’s premiere event. The who’s who of the Australian fashion scene will witness the unveiling of South Australia’s leading designers’ collections including ready-to-wear and couture pieces. Guests will also be treated to the announcement of the coveted annual SA Emerging Designer Award.

Sunday, 19th October

Get ready for this year’s biggest clothing sale at the Norwood Concert Hall. Featuring bargains from popular local designers and boutiques, this one-day-only event is not to be missed!

‘Behind the Seams’ Q&A Workshop

Ever wanted to go ‘behind the seams’ in the fashion industry? Well now you can! Held at the Hotel Richmond, listen and interact with key guest speakers from different areas of the industry and gain insights into what is involved in their jobs.

Fashion Icons In Conversation

Tuesday, 21st October

As part of the Art Gallery of South Australia’s major international exhibition for spring/summer 2014 – Fashion Icons: Masterpieces from the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, be among the first to gain insight into the story of Fashion Icons at this one off event. Hear from Exhibition Curator Pamela Golbin, Event Program Curator, Mitchell Oakley Smith and Art Gallery Decorative Arts Curator Robert Reason, as they discuss the art of curating fashion and the story behind the exhibition.

The Myer Centre Adelaide presents Fast Fashion Uncovered, The Fast Fashion Movement

Wednesday, 22nd October

As a celebration to the unique Myer Centre Adelaide offering, this parade showcases the latest in fashion trends at affordable prices. Teaming fast fashion items from centre retailers with some of Australia’s most loved designer pieces from the Myer Department Store, learn how to style up fast fashion trends for the coming spring/summer season.

MATRIX presents ‘Finesse Lingerie Showcase’

Thursday, 23rd October

Invited guests will be treated to a themes cocktail party and lingerie show featuring fantasy and current season lingerie modelled by Adelaide’s leading models.

Friday, 24th October

The largest group show of the Festival to feature beloved boutiques from metro and suburban Adelaide, Boutique brings the shopping experience to the runway, with a range of runway firsts that have never been seen before at a fashion festival.

Adelaide Vintage Expo

Saturday, 25th October & Sunday, 26th October

Be transported back in time through fashion from the 1920s – 1990s with over 30 fashion, homewares, textiles and accessory business from all around Australia under one roof. Workshops include dressmaking, crochet, knitting, millinery, leather tooling, makeup and etiquette, as well as daily fashion parades.

Opening of Fashion Icons: Masterpieces from the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris

This season, fashion has a new address. Over 90 emblematic haute couture garments created by some of the world’s leading fashion designers will debut in a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Norwood Place Parades on Norwood Parade

Sunday, 26th October

An event that offers something for everyone, the Parades on Norwood Parade features a giant outdoor catwalk and fashion parades to showcase the new spring/summer trends from retailers along the Parade, as well as the beloved Norwood Fashion Market and ticketed high tea.

The Maid Presents ‘The Gentlemen’s Lounge’

From young designers putting Adelaide on the map, to the iconic stalwarts of the fashion scene, this sophisticated area is committed to embracing all that makes up the Gentleman of Adelaide. This event aims to showcase emerging designers and celebrate those who have contributed to the menswear scene from its humble beginnings, as well as tracking the evolution of tailoring in the Adelaide market.

 

With numerous events of all magnitudes spanning across ten days, the 2014 AFF promises to deliver an exciting fashion experience, and has established itself as a firm fixture on Adelaide’s annual event calendar and social scene.
