The Tandanya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Fair is on again for 2010 and is a unique annual event, bringing together over 40 artists from across the state.
On October 24th the inaugural Tandanya Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Fair will take place on the Rymill Park extension, next to Tandanya, from 10am to 5pm. The Arts Fair will be a vibrant event celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait visual arts as a vital, living and important cultural practice.
Visitors have the opportunity to meet Indigenous artists, see them at work, learn the stories behind the paintings and craftworks, and purchase art directly without gallery commission.
There are also demonstrations of traditional crafts by elders, workshops in which adults and children can participate, and a full music and dance program all for free.
The two days are a wonderful cultural celebration in the beautiful setting of the park adjoining Tandanya.
It is a great opportunity to learn more about one of the oldest living cultures in the world and to purchase a truly Australian, truly unique gift or artwork. A very family friendly event for a perfect Spring weekend!
