Strathalbyn Reveals New Tapas Destination

The Adelaide Hills township of Strathalbyn seems an unlikely place to unlock the pleasures of Gin and Tapas, but that’s exactly what new bar Smith is promising to do.

The Adelaide Hills are no longer a simple bastion of wine, large residential developments, bakeries and fodder stores. Anyone who grew up there knew that for a long time, a dinner out would mean Pizza Giovanni if you were going fancy. Now Miss Perez, Locavore, Red Cacao, Sazón, The Haus, FRED Eatery, Chingari, Lost In A Forest and The Mylor Cafe are just the tip of an ever-growing list of destinations bringing a true independent passion for food and drink and it seems that the trend isn’t set to end there.

Along the beautiful misty roads in the winter, you can now add Strathalbyn to the long list of trips to take as Smith Bar enters the fray, boasting a considered blend of wines, fabulous gin, single malt whisky & artisan mixers alongside a delicious tapas menu. Opened earlier this month, the new venue has the town in a bit of a buzz and is the perfect place to warm up with a few glasses of your favourite with friends. Adelaide Hills hospitality is amongst the best in this state and as a family run business this will no doubt channel some of the personal touches of the owners.

Smith is located at 26 High Street, Strathalbyn. Make it a weekend trip. It looks well worth the journey!
