In his fabulous show at the Cabaret Festival on Wednesday evening Stephen Schwartz let the cat out of the bag. To be more accurate, he let a fully grown sabre tooth tiger out of the bag, telling the audience, ahead of any official announcement, that his hit musical Wicked, the prequel to The Wizard of Oz, will be coming to Adelaide.
It’s run in Sydney is drawing to a close in a couple of months and from there it transfers to Queensland. After the run there, it will transfer to Adelaide.
Adelaide Cabaret Festival director, David Campbell, had been bursting his breeches to tell somebody, but had forcibly restrained himself, and was greatly releived that Schwartz had broken the silence first.
