Spring Carnival returns to Morphettville Racecourse in October with four huge race days, featuring trackside dining, entertainment, fashion and live racing, to deliver Adelaide an unforgettable experience at The Races.

Race days are held over three Saturdays in October and November to coincide with the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, with Caulfield Cup Day – 21 October; Cox Plate – 28 October; and Victoria Derby Day – 4 November; culminating with the race that stops the nation – Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, 7 November.

South Australian Jockey Club Chair, Bodelle Francis, said the 2017 Spring Carnival will offer event-goers a unique experience.

“We have had such a great response to the new Morphettville over the past year, and Spring Carnival this year will combine everything people love about a day out: food, fashion, wine, and the thrill of live racing” she said.

Caulfield Cup Day is the Ladies’ Day of the Carnival, with plenty of trackside dining options on offer, and the first day for racegoers to wear their Spring best.

Cox Plate is Gentlemen’s day – dapper men are invited to celebrate Spring Racing with mates, with the races the perfect way to celebrate the end of the sporting season.

Victoria Derby Day is the glamorous day of the carnival, seeing the stylish Festival Gardens precinct return to Morphettville, and the day to dress to impress in the traditional black and white dress code of Derby Day.

The Festival Gardens precinct is set to host Adelaide’s style and social set on Victoria Derby Day, with the exclusive area hosting an unrivalled view of the Mounting Yard and Winning Post, as well as a premium bar and menu offering.

The Spring Carnival Lawn Party offers a trackside party perfect for group gatherings and a more laidback racing experience on every day of the Carnival. The area will feature a Little Creatures bar and an Aperol Spritz Pop Up, as well some of Adelaide’s favorite food trucks – Sookii La La, Feisty Filomenia and Low and the new CARŌclub.

Melbourne Cup sits as the pinnacle of the Australian racing calendar and thousands will descend on Morphettville to enjoy a champagne-filled day while they enjoy live racing on the track, and all of Flemington’s races streamed live.

Fashion stakes will be higher than ever at this year’s Spring Carnival, with a qualifying event for the 2017-18 Fashion at the Races competition being held on Melbourne Cup Day. There will be thousands of dollars’ worth of cash and prizes to be won by the day’s best dressed ladies and gentlemen, with the winner also qualifying for the state final in September 2018.

Ms Francis said whether race-goers are after a glamorous affair in their racing best, or a laid back racing experience, there’s an event to suit everyone at Morphettville this Spring.
