The Organic & Sustainable Market, South Australia’s first certified organic market, will open its doors at the State Government’s flagship Bowden development.

As of the 18th of October, the award-winning market will be held every Saturday from 9am to 1pm, at Plant One warehouse with entry from Fifth Street, Bowden, across from Jarmer’s Kitchen eatery and Bowden Sales and Information Centre.

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Leon Bignell MP and Food SA Chief Executive Officer, Catherine Barnett will be special guest speakers on the day of the launch.

“The market’s focus on organic and genetically modified (GM) free produce aligns with the South Australian Government’s strategic priority of premium food and wine from our clean environment through supporting local farmers, producers and businesses”, says Mr Bignell.

Ms Barnett says the central location of the Organic & Sustainable Market at Bowden is ideal for socially and ecologically sustainable local food producers as a place to make connections direct to consumers that enable the growth of the South Australian food industry and shows the diversity that our state has to offer in food. It will create a vibrant retail and community hub that not only educates consumers about the food they are buying but also enriches their health and wellbeing.

Other special guests on the day include celebrity chef and food educator, Simon Bryant, Chris Jarmer of Jarmer’s Kitchen who will be doing a cooking demonstration, Hon Michael Atkinson MP, Member for Croydon, Paul Caica MP, Member for Colton, City of Charles Sturt Mayor, Kirsten Alexander and the market’s certifier, NASAA Certified Organic.
