Things just got super exciting one of Adelaide’s favourite kitchen and bar destinations. Located on Waymouth St, Adelaide, Delicatessen Kitchen and Bar have just opened their brand new underground cellar space.
When having a chat to Glam, Owner of the kitchen, Andy, has said, “Back in August last year we first saw the space after a gentleman that worked here years ago popped in for dinner and had a chat to us about it. We then had a chat to the landlord who was happy to get a little extra rent for the space once it was developed.”
“After eight months or so of on and off construction It was ready to go. Approximately three weeks ago we had a small soft opening (pretty much just us and the builders having a cheeky whiskey or two) to make sure everything was up to scratch, then we opened the following night.”
Whilst having a chat with them, we were able to get a hold of some photos of this intriguing new spot just before it opened.
“I guess we’re different to other places predominantly because of the size (licensed for 35) I’m not sure it would be sustainable as a stand alone bar but as a part of Delicatessen it’s a really cool twist as you walk down the stairs”, says Andy, owner of the kitchen.
“It has barely changed since it was built in the 1890s – we even had to rip out the spoiled antique cupboards etc. We tried to keep it as original and old worldly as possible.”
“We’re working hard on the cocktails, and have whiskey, rum, gin and tequila in good stock.”
With its dark, mysterious lighting and vibe, this new cellar seems like the perfect place to go for drinks after work or with some friends. For more info about the kitchen click here
