A Comprehensive Guide To Sea & Vines

To make your wine-loving lives a little easier we’ve not only broken the Sea and Vines Festival down for you, but we’ve also picked out our favourite events and locations to head to across the course of your long weekend.

The three day festival that’s all about celebrating and discovering McLaren Vale’s wine region is fast approaching. Sea & Vines 2019 is set taking place on June 8 – 10 all over South Australia’s south.

The issue with a three day food and wine extravaganza of this scale is deciphering the plethora of things to see and do. To make your wine-loving lives a little easier we’ve not only broken it down for you, but we’ve also picked out our favourite events and locations to head to across the course of your long weekend.

So here’s the breakdown for you on which Sunday Experience, Relish and Family Fun Monday events you need to head to.

Sunday Experience

One of the most popular aspects of the festival is the Sunday Experience where a range of wineries around McLaren Vale are hosting parties that you can visit. Sea & Vines offer a $43.50 ticket which gets you entry to two wineries of your choosing, a Plumm Vintage outdoor glass and a Festival lanyard.

There are two sessions, 10:30am – 1:30pm and 2pm – 5pm, and we’ve got your list of which wineries are hosting a Sea & Vines Sunday experience.

Alpha Box & Dice

Join Alpha Box & Dice for the biggest party the winery has ever seen (literally!). Food will be provided by special guests from some well-known city restaurants popping up at the cellar door and a live band will cover all your favourite hits, supported by the Alpha Box & Dice DJs on the decks.

Coriole Vineyards

Coriole are having a melting pot of carnival fair, think buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing, Chicago-style hot dog, New York cheese burger, mac and cheese, Hollywood cobb salad, hot chips, hot apple pie, cotton candy, and popcorn. Coriole wine and local beers available Full Circle, Coriole DJ, and bongos and sax on the terrace will keep you entertained all day.

De Lisio Wines

Head to the De Lisio winery to experience their boutique small batch wines. Their unique Sangiovese Rosé, sparkling Moscator, Italian-style Pinot Grigio man many more (including the world-famous Quarterback Red Blend. Listen to music perfectly paired with your food and wine: sit back, chill out, or get up and dance. Regional beers and ciders available.

Leconfield & Richard Hamilton Wines

Leconfield are known for parties in McLaren Vale and they’re doing it again by bringing two of South Australia’s best party-starters together for one massive Sunday Experience. Sub Stance’s full five-piece lineup will mix rock and funk classics with a dash of the best dance tracks out, and of the hottest party DJs around will break out the beats in between sets to keep you dancing all day. There’ll be food from Chipalicious and Signor Arrosticini and the long bar will serve Leconfield, Richard Hamilton and Syn wines, Vale Ale beers and soft drinks all day.

Lloyd Brothers

Lloyd Brothers are delivering the ultimate party. DJ Ali B and his percussion crew are bound to liven up the atmosphere, with gourmet fire-cooked food provided by CAROclub and Fahrenheit Catering. Expect reduced lines and discounted wines by the glass this year.

Pizzateca

A pizza party is something no one can really say no to. Pizzateca are offering great music, hot pizzas all day, wine from V.Mitolo & Sons as well as imported and local beer, spritz and more.

Serafino

Beats from Fresh 92.7 DJs, lawn games, a dance floor that’s bound to be full plus wine, pizza, vegan fare from Staazi & Co and sweet treats from the Honey Puff Lads. Serafino’s Fresh Feast & Beats is already selling fast so jump on this one quickly.

Relish Events

If the Sunday Experience isn’t quite what you are after, then you may be suited more to the Relish events. Spanning the three day festival, Relish events provides more of a curated experience dedicated to feasting and immersing your taste buds in McLaren Vale produce. You may find yourself at a wine and cheese masterclass, an intimate dinner or indulging in a degustation dining experience. With a guaranteed gorgeous sight of the rolling McLaren Vale vineyards.

Saturday 8 & Monday 9 – Andre’s Cucina & the Blind Tiger Gin Bar @ Angove McLaren Vale

After selling out last year, this event is returning with two days in the festival roster. Four courses of amazing food crafted by Andre, whilst you sip on fine wines and cocktails and enjoy smooth tunes all afternoon, right in the heart of the historic Angove Organic Warboys Vineyard.

Saturday 8 – Sunday 10 – Flight Club @ Beresford Estate

The first rule of Flight Club is… to enjoy three unique tasting flights, showcasing Beresford’s award winning wines, a paddle of session-able craft brews or premium spirits.

Saturday 8 – Get High with the Black Sheep @ Hugh Hamilton Wines

A wine tasting 30 feet into the sky? Consider us intrigued, a tasting overlooking the vines, and a return to the soil that made their magnificent pedigree pets – the Black Blood trio (which you’ll have tasted) of single vineyard shiraz as well as a gourmet tasting table and the opportunity to meet one of Australia’s oldest wine families.

Saturday 8 & Monday 9 – Philippine Twist @ Oxenberry Farm

Your chance to immerse yourself in a unique experience where grabbing a chair at one of their sharing tables gets you six traditional Philippine dishes matched with six Oxenberry boutique wines. Authentic cuisine and great wine in a lively atmosphere.

Family Fun Monday

Amazeballs @ Maxwell Wine

Adelaide’s top food trucks will offer up super tasty Festival food and they’ll have live music plus plenty of amazing kids activities including an eight metre tall rock climbing wall, ball pit and – of course – the Maxwell Maze. Whilst it’s a free event, you must book ahead of time.

Coriole’s Big American Sideshow @ Coriole Vineyards

A melting pot of southern fare and carnival flair. Expect sideshows, free face-painting and circus performers plus a range of food stalls to hit up and wine to sdrink. Whilst it’s a free event, you must book ahead of time.

Kiddateca @ Pizzateca

Pizzateca and Kiddo Mag are teaming up for a relaxed day of live music and VPO Pizza. Charcoal arrosticini and the full range of V.Mitolo & Son wine, plus gelatic for the little ones. Live music, DJs, face painting and more also on offer.
