Say Hey, Hi And Hello To Adelaide’s New Sandwich Bar

Hello Sarnie, Adelaide’s new sandwich bar, are putting the sexy back into the sandwich…

Hello Sarnie (noun: English slang for a sandwich) is a new breakfast and lunch bar opening its doors at 147 Pirie St, Adelaide, tomorrow (October 8).

Owned and operated by two UK expats, Andrew Pearce and Mike Kendall-Smith who believed there is an untapped market in Adelaide for “proper” sandwiches – those which are made fresh daily from high-quality ingredients, but are pre-packed in the grab-and-go style they were used to from the UK.

From this idea, Hello Sarnie was born, with the aim to offer fresh, high-quality breakfast, lunch and snack products, all of which are made onsite daily and beautifully pre-package for the convenience of the customer.

“Having come from working in London to working in Adelaide, I pretty quickly noticed that there was nowhere I could go to just grab a fresh and quick sandwich or baguette off the shelf, to either eat back at my desk or out enjoying the Aussie weather,” Andrew says.

Hello sarnie will offer customers a range of traditional and gourmet sandwiches, wraps, baguettes and salads, along with snacks including dip pots, muesli, yoghurt pots and fresh fruit.

“Our coffee has also been sourced from the finest local roaster who has created a blend unique to Hello Sarnie…because only the best tasting coffee will do for a city that loves to drink it,” Andrew says.

What sets Hello Sarnie apart is its commitment to fresh, healthy food, its obsession with speedy service and value for money.

“We want people to enter our store and to immediately feel a buzz about the place – we want them to be excited by our range of fresh, high-quality food; to admire its beautiful packaging; to delight at our affordable prices and to come to expect friendly and quick customer service.

“Making our margins smaller so that we could offer a better price to our customers was very important to us. We think that you should be able to get a great lunch and beverage for around $10, and so we’ve worked hard to make our products everyday affordable, not a weekly treat.”

Hello Sarnie will operate a bit like a restaurant with its own in-house commercial kitchen and all ingredients to be delivered fresh daily.

“Each morning our team will make fresh all our sandwiches, salads, wraps, baguettes and breakfast offerings,” Mike says.

“Our food has no sell-by dates, additives or preservatives – what we don’t sell that day, we will give away to charity that night.”

All the food is made on the day of purchase and once made is placed into our specially designed, recyclable packaging and put for display in its temperature-controlled fridges – all set out ready for the convenience of the customer.

“If you’ve ever travelled to the UK or America, you most probably would have bought a prepackaged sandwich – they are everywhere,” Andrew says.

“We believe now is the right time to bring this concept to Adelaide. People are time-poor and becoming increasingly more so, but they still want to be able to grab something nutritious, tasty and fresh for lunch.

“We want to put the sexy back into sandwiches!”

Hello Sarnie is open from Monday to Friday, from 7am till 4pm. Check out more on their Facebook or website.
