Here at GlamAdelaide we are getting very excited for Christmas! Once all the Christmas shopping is done, its nice to think about the donation side of things, and we can help with that! This year the Ronald McDonald house has collaborated with Build a Bear Factory for a fantastic donation initiative.
For those times when loved ones can’t be at the House, you can now donate a bespoke By Your Side Bear that is able to carry 30 second voice messages between separated family members, activated by a loving cuddle. For many of the nearly 10,000 families who stay at Australian Ronald McDonald Houses each year, a Build a Bear donation can really help put a smile on the faces of children separated from their families this Christmas.
Shay Wignall has been living at a Ronald McDonald House with her mum, Julie, since she first found out she had Leukemia in April this year. Julie Wignall, Shay’s mother, said, “Within two hours of hearing Shay’s diagnosis we packed up and left home, leaving my eight-year-old son behind. Staying at Ronald McDonald House has meant we get to see my son every weekend, something Shay and I appreciate so much – it’s definitely a nice place to be when you’re going through the toughest time in your life.
Shay’s younger brother, Jayd has had the touching opportunity by RMHC to provide Shay with a bespoke By Your Side Bear for the times he can’t be there.
“It was amazing to see Shay’s face light up when she heard her brother’s voice in the bear for the first time. It means he’s just that much closer to her when she needs it.”
