It’s the stuff an Adelaide child’s dreams are made of. Imagine the best days of the calendar year; the Magic Cave visit, the Christmas Pageant and Royal Show, all rolled into one indulgent extravaganza known as Santa’s Wonderland!

After last night’s launch at the Adelaide Showground, the magical destination with an all-inclusive ticket will be dishing up festive cheer until Sunday next week.

The big question is: Where do you begin? There are three imaginative worlds to explore, fantasy characters to meet, rides to go on, shows to watch, reindeer to ride, an ice skating rink, tobogganing adventures to be had and the big man in red’s knee to sit on… it’s enough to make a kid’s head spin! But don’t be late! Housed in the Wayville Showground’s Goyder Pavilion, each three-hour session at Santa’s Wonderland begins with the magical sound of Santa landing on the roof and sliding down the chimney before the audience walks through the spectacular snow storm entrance.

Every child under 18 receives an Activity trail show bag, which takes them around to 11 stations with something fun to see and do at each collection point. In Ice Wonderland, kids meet the Ice Queen and play in a giant glittery snow globe, in Candy Land there are candy-themed jumping castles and in Santa Land kids can write a letter to Santa, take a selfie on Santa’s sleigh complete with funky props and of course meet Santa and the lovely Mrs Claus. Most kids get lost on the amusement rides along the way, which they can ride endlessly… everything is included in the entry fee except food and beverage, show bags and sideshow alley games.

Adding to the Christmas carnival atmosphere and further delighting children of all ages is the chance to get up close and personal with a selection of floats from the Christmas Pageant, including perennial favourites Nipper and Nimble and Stardust Castle. Even the most hardened Scrooge will lose their Bah Humbug when they encounter the enchanting roving fairies, snow princesses and elves, including Elf MC who invites everyone to the live and colourful Candy Land stage shows.

It really is three full hours of non-stop amusement for Christmas lovers of all ages, culminating in a farewell parade of characters and the arrival onstage of Santa to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas… And to all, a good night!
