Raggamuffin Festival To Donate 10% Profits To Flood Victims

In response to the devastation in Queensland, promoter Andrew McManus is donating 10 per cent of profits from this year’s Raggamuffin shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal. In addition to this, 100 per cent of profits from Brisbane’s Raggamuffin show, renamed “The Lord Mayor’s Flood Relief Benefit Concert”, will be donated to the appeal.
Promoter Andrew McManus is saddened by the shocking floods in his home state of Queensland. “All of our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families affected by the tragic events in Queensland. Let’s hope we can raise a substantial amount of money to ease some of the pain and to aid in the rebuilding of Queensland.”
From Monday 17th January all tickets will be reduced to $99. Ten per cent of profits from Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide will be donated to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
Raggamuffin has an outstanding line up for 2011 including international artists, such as, Mary J. Blige who is the recipient of nine Grammy Awards and who has recorded eight muti-platinum albums.
Raggamuffin is also proud to present, Jimmy Cliff for the 2011 line up. Jimmy Cliff has always been one of the brightest stars of Jamaica’s thriving musical culture and was among the first to bring reggae to a worldwide audience. Also, joining the bill this year is one of the most successful reggae fusion acts of all-time, Maxi Priest and Grammy Award winning reggae artist, Sean Paul. Bob Marley & the Wailers, together sold more than 400 million albums in the last four decades, and The Wailers helped propel this international success. Today, three legendary Wailers have reformed to create a new, tighter band, The Original Wailers. Ky-Mani Marley, who has followed in the legacy of his father’s footsteps, will also perform at this year’s Raggamuffin. New Zealand band, The Black Seeds also look forward to performing at Raggamuffin in 2011. Melbourne band, The Red Eyes continue to wow audiences with their unique sound while setting a benchmark for Australian dub/reggae.
