Since its world premiere at the 2012 Adelaide Festival, Proximity has toured twice to Europe and played an exclusive season at the Arts Centre Melbourne to critical acclaim.
This return season features additional music score by Huey Benjamin, amazing new video effects and stunning new choreography.
Proximity has been created by Australian Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director Garry Stewart in collaboration with visionary Paris-based video engineer Thomas Pachoud and is performed by nine jaw-droppingly brilliant dancers.
A dialogue for dance and real-time video manipulation, the work is said to be primarily an investigation into the body’s interactive participation in the act seeing the world with reference to neurological body maps and the French philosopher Merleau Ponty’s phenomenology of perception.
It has been described as “Brilliantly spectacular” by The Australian and “A jaw-dropping performance” by The Saturday Age. Those recommendations don’t come lighly, and we at Glam are super excited to check the show out for ourself.
