It’s been a topic of debate for months now with all of South Australia focused on what’s going to happen at the old Royal Adelaide Hospital site. Well, Renewal SA are giving the public a chance to see the progress by hosting an open day on the 11th of July!

Chief Executive of Renewal SA, John Hanlon, says that the Open Day will be a unique opportunity for the community to get a peak behind the scenes to such a big South Australian redevelopment and get a better idea of what we can expect when visiting the site.

Mr Hanlon has also given us the new name for the creation and innovation neighbourhood and it hails from the “Colonel Light’s grid vision for the City of Adelaide and the surveyor general allocating allotment 14 as the majority of the site fronting the cultural boulevard on North Terrace.” Familiarise yourself with Lot Fourteen as it will be a neighbourhood focusing on the future of SA.

The seven hectares in the Adelaide East End will be bringing researchers, creatives, mentors, start-ups, corporations and Adelaide entrepreneurs together for a number of relationships and joint ventures. The focus of which being the deep technologies of the 21st Century! So at the open day expect information on sectors revolving around artificial intelligence, cyber security, smart sensor networks, robotics, big data, defence and space technologies and media and creative industries.

With free ticketed demolition tours of the Observation Deck viewing platform, you’ll get a first hand view of the demolition in action while being fed information on the history and the heritage of the site. You can also use the virtual window to watch the buildings on the east side come down.

There’ll also be pop-up bars and food offers alongside the onsite tenant KIK Coffee and free tastings from Chesterfield Whiskey Firm, so pop in for lunch as you absorb all the creativity on offering!
