New Cocktail & Pizza Joint Coming To Prospect Tonight!

From one of Adelaide’s fave bars comes a new pizza and bar venture in Prospect based on the story of a superhero who fights a pizza burglar.

It’s an exciting time to live or visit Prospect, as the newest venture to join the cinema complex has just been announced! Come February the locals will be welcoming Anchovy Bandit (with open arms, we’re sure)!

Anchovy Bandit is set to be the new local haunt. Coming from the geniuses behind Est-End favourite, NOLA, with a fit out by Sans-Arc Studios (Pink Moon Saloon), we’re pretty confident it’s going to be awesome.

Think Neapolitan-inspired bar and pizzeria that will push the boundaries of local suburban watering holes. Housed in the new Maras cinema development, with a strong focus on delicious wood-oven pizzas, cocktails and aperitifs.

We’ve been promised a colourful venue with vibes of southern Italy spun out with an art-deco twist.

If you’re wondering where the name came from you’re not alone, so were we. And it turns out the story behind it is pretty unique. The bar has taken it’s name from an unpublished Quentin Tarantino script from when the Pulp Fiction director was only 14, Captain Peachfuzz and the Anchovy Bandit.

The director is a favourite of coowner Alex Bennet who said “we wanted to reference cinema and when we discovered that a teenage Quentin Tarantino had invented a superhero who fights off a pizza burglar, we knew we had a name.” As the name suggests, this is a venue that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Sounds pretty epic already, doesn’t it? Well hold up because it gets better. The team have focused their menus (both food and drink) on local produce including spirits, wine, and pizza. We’ve been told that while there’ll be a pretty cracking wine list, ultimately it’s table wine that’s really exciting!

The Anchovy Bandit team will source single barrels of wine direct from local wineries, giving each batch an exclusive edge AND showcasing small South Australian producers!

These barrel selections will be available by the half litre, litre and will constantly rotate. But never fear, it’s not just wine! What else is there other than wine? We hear a collective chorus of… Well, cocktails. There are cocktails! Co-owner Oliver Brown has informed us that the drinks focus will be broader than just wines.

“We will have a strong focus on cocktails with Italian influences – think modern twists on classics like the Bellini and Spritz.”

“Our back bar will heavily feature Whiskey and Gin with a big support behind local producers.”

“We can’t wait to open and meet the Prospect community – we really want to be the quintessential local Italian Pizzeria.”

Well Olvier, we can’t wait to meet Anchovy Bandit and enjoy a Captain Peachfuzz (it’s one of the cocktails). Meanwhile, join us as we follow thier escapades and keep an ear to the ground for an official opening date on their Facebook or Instagram.
