Music SA and Coopers Brewery win Australian Business Arts Foundation Award

200295682-001Music SA and Coopers Brewery won the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) Award at the Australian Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) Awards last week for their ‘Coopers Alive’ music project.

The AbaF SME award is for partnerships between arts and cultural organisations and businesses employing fewer than 200 people globally.

In 2008, Music SA and Coopers Brewery joined together to create ‘Coopers Alive’, a professional development program for emerging musicians, which provides young bands with training in marketing and promotion, as well as opportunities to put their knowledge into practice at live gigs.

Music SA General Manager, David Randell, said “Music SA is delighted that we have won the state AbaF award for a second consecutive year. Our partnership with Coopers Brewery has helped to reinforce our view that South Australia has some of the most talented people working within the Australian music industry.”

For Coopers, the partnership confirms its connection with live music and targets a key demographic for its products. Coopers Brewery Marketing Director, Glenn Cooper, said “The partnership between Coopers and Music SA over the past couple of years has delivered exceptional results, which has always focused on nurturing and educating the next generation of South Australian musicians.”

Coordinated by Gordon Andersen, Music SA’s Industry Development Officer, Coopers Alive continues to make an important contribution to the South Australian music scene and is gearing up towards its next event over two weekends in October (15-16, 22-23).

Music SA and Coopers Brewery will now go on to contest the national awards, which will be held in Sydney on the 21st of October.
