Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard Brings You Pinot In The Dark. Literally.

Under the cover of darkness, you’ll taste your way through the rich history of the Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard.

Back for their seventh year in a row, Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard are joining the Winter Reds Weekend to bring you Pinot in the Dark. Lit by the flickering light of the fireplace, candlelight and a spotlight illuminating the big gum tree, it’s a rare occasion to see the Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard like you never have before. With many guests coming from interstate to enjoy this event, you’ll have to book early to avoid missing out.

Held in their 2017 Chef Hat awarded restaurant, there are only two chances to enjoy this event – the 28th and 29th of July. From 6:30pm until 10:30pm or later, you’ll enjoy two vintages with every course. As there are a limited number of back vintages available, this is an exclusive opportunity to taste the history of the vineyard and how the wines have changed over time.

With four courses and eight vintages to try, you’ll enjoy a sparkling wine on arrival as you settle in to listen to the winemakers and chefs talk about their creations. The winemakers will talk about their vineyard and vintages, what makes each year special and how you can pick up the distinctive differences in taste. Each vintage will be matched to a different plate: lighter plates paired with light Pinot Noirs and heavier plates paired with heavier Pinot Noirs.

There are very few producers in the Adelaide Hills who have state-grown, single-vineyard Pinot Noir with as many vintages as Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard does. As it’s a single vineyard, you can taste the marked differences between each vintage depending on the terroir of each year. They’ll even test your knowledge and see if you can guess which year the wine came from (hint: that light Pinot Noir? It was probably a wet year!).

From $145pp, this is a rare opportunity to not only taste Pinot Noir from 8 consecutive vintages, but taste them in the beautiful Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard restaurant lit only by candlelight.
