Mr Badger Tells The Story Of The Wind In The Willows – 2012 Adelaide Fringe

Oh joy, oh bliss, I’ve just experienced a trip to childhood, the childhood of perfect days as remembered by imperfect memory.

Picture yourself sitting on a chequered picnic rug underneath a spreading sycamore tree and having Mr. Badger himself telling you all about the adventures of Ratty, Mole and Toad, and then admit that you really want to be there! This is sublime storytelling designed to totally engage your imagination, with minimal props and maximum effect.

Mr. Badger, bought to real life by local actor Chris John, engages the children (and those that have the ability to be childlike) in the audience throughout the show and encourages them to find out more by researching, reading or watching, without a hint of patronisation.

The Wind in the Willows, written by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, has continually delighted readers and has been the subject of many television shows, films, radio readings and plays and ,in this production, Splash Theatre Company continue this tradition and, more importantly, continue to spread the love of the story to a new generation.

This is a package of delight, education, history and good values, and I urge everyone to indulge themselves, even if they don’t have a child to take, by seeing this show.
