Moseley Beach Club Damaged In Storm, But Announces Reopening

Last night was tough on all of Adelaide—half the city was in pitch black while the other half got blown away. You might have seen our call for help last night when the wild winds brought the Lifesaving World Championships celebration event to an abrupt close.

With 60km/h winds, 95km/h gusts, and a 2.5m tide at only 5pm, it’s no wonder the LWC Adelaide weren’t the only ones to nearly loose their marquees. Overnight, The Moseley Beach Club endured some damage—requiring staff to pack down majority of the venue.

Operations Manager, Luke Donaldson, says, “However unfortunate, this minor setback has brought out the absolute best in our staff, who have shown resilience and taken the word ‘teamwork’ to another level.”

Given the extent of the damage, we say hats off to everyone involved with salvaging the set up to bring it back to its former glory.

And compare that to the after:

“It’s a shame that we have experienced a storm so early into opening The Beach Club for the season, however, you will definitely see us back by next weekend,” says Mr. Donaldson. And it’s all kudos to volunteers from the City of Holdfast Bay and the team behind the club work together to restore the venue back to its former glory.

Things are getting back on track bit by bit. The Mosely Beach Club will be back up and running in time for summer to finally roll around—it’s set to re-open on 1 December.
