Zombies Ditch Brains For Veins

If you witness zombies invading the CBD this week don’t fear an apocalypse, these flesh-eaters are actually saving lives.

Members of the Adelaide Zombie Walk (AZW) are rising from the dead to answer the Blood Service’s call for donations.

South Australia needs to fill around 2000 appointments in the next month to continue helping cancer patients, road trauma victims and unborn babies.

Zombie Walk coordinator Ann Bansemer is supporting the everlasting cause and encouraging AZW members to donate blood and save three lives.

“Adelaide’s zombies are saving lives by putting their hunger for flesh and brains aside and giving blood instead of taking it,” Ms Bansemer said.

“Just like zombies, the need for blood never dies and 27,000 donations are required every week.”

Donor services manager Andrew Scott said the need for blood is endless and demand is expected to double in the next decade.

“I encourage all potential donors to crawl out of hiding and sink their teeth into the cause,” Mr Scott said.

“Currently one in three South Australians will need blood in their lifetime but only one in 30 donates.

“Making a donation only takes an hour of your time and will mean a lifetime to the person receiving your blood.”

The AZW are donating blood at:

301 Pirie Street between 12pm and 5pm on Friday 11 May
55 Currie Street between 9am and 2pm on Saturday 12 May.

If the un-dead can save lives you can too. To make an appointment call 13 14 95 or visit donateblood.com.au.
