Forget hiding away this Winter. Adelaide has turned it up a notch in July and you won’t be disappointed! With the cool weather kicking in don’t let it be an excuse for you to miss out on some of the best events of the year. With cellar doors opening for Winter Reds, Bonjour Barossa in full swing, wine tastings coming out of your ears and the return of Alpine Winter Village, what’s not to love (apart from the ice-skating bruises)?

1-9 July, Matilda The Musical High Tea. Matilda The Musical is coming to Adelaide and Stamford Plaza Adelaide have put together a special high tea menu for the young at heart. Treat yourself to an array of Matilda themed sweet and savoury delights before you see the show. Book now as it’s for a limited time only!

Sunday 2 July, Cellar Door Sessions w/ Hither & Yon and The Porch Sessions. Unplugged live music in a candlelit cellar door, 30 minutes south of Adelaide. Red wine, wood oven pizza, an open fire and damn good company. For a bunch of Sunday’s over the colder months, they transform Hither & Yon’s Cellar Door and fill it with travelling musicians from across the country, stopping by in this humble town to sing songs, tell stories and have a wine or seven. Monday 3 July, Business SA SAYES applications close. SAYES is a government funded 12-month program designed to assist young South Australians aged 18-35 years to turn their business concept into a reality or focus on creating a sustainable business model for a newly established business. By participating in mentoring sessions and workshop presentations SAYES participants gain an understanding of business fundamentals and develop the confidence to implement their business idea. At the completion of the program, participants will leave armed with a comprehensive, fully-formed business plan, ready to successfully launch or establish their business.
The key to the success of this program is the ongoing support from experienced mentors and industry leaders who present comprehensive workshops, providing participants with all the essentials to launch and run a successful business. Cost: $990 including GST per person. Tuesday 4 July, Masterclass | Cigars & Whisky. A cigar & whisky masterclass made for people wanting to expand their knowledge or just cigar lovers. Saturday 7 July – 19 August, The Lodge Winter Pop-Up Bar launches. The historic entrance hall of Adelaide Casino is being transformed into a cosy winter wonderland. The pop-up bar will be open from Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm-1am serving up winter warmer cocktails, good tunes and a relaxed atmosphere.

Saturday 7 July, Fashion First at Hotel Richmond. Fashion First is being held at the Hotel Richmond in support of local, emerging and talented designers. Sunday 9 July, Bonjour Barossa. Seppeltsfield Estate invites lovers of all things French to “Bonjour Barossa” – a boutique and market-style French food, wine & cultural celebration including ‘French foodie’ indulgences such as patisserie (pastries & desserts), boulangerie (breads & baked goods) and charcuterie (cured and smoked meats) along with other favourites of beef bourguignon, oysters, cheese, crepes and ice-cream. Book tickets here.

Tuesday 11 July, Coriole Wine Tasting at Electra House. Coriole was founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd in 1967. The Estate is still owned by the Lloyd family and is now managed by Mark and Paul Lloyd. Shiraz is the great tradition of McLaren Vale going back over 150 years, and is the major variety planted on the estate. Coriole was founded in 1967 and the first wine released was the 1970 Claret (Shiraz). Coriole has been an Australian pioneer of Sangiovese and Italian varieties since 1985. Coriole will be tasting: Chenin Blanc, Fiano, Sangiovese, Barbera, Nero D’Avola, ‘The Dancing Fig’ GSM. 14-23 July, Winterfest. is back, pull out your woollies and prepare for a week of winter warming wonder at the ‘Our Port Winterfest’. Port Adelaide is host to its very own ice-skating rink, winter markets, live music, kid’s activities, shows, workshops and more delicious winter food and drink than you can poke a stick at! So pop on some skates and go for a whirl around the waterfront ice rink; there’s bound to be endless amounts of laughter. 14-30 July, Umbrella Winter City Sounds. A live music festival presented by Music SA is back for July 2017!! Umbrella will be held from 14th to the 30th of July, offering an exciting smorgasbord of curated live music projects and other performances across the Adelaide CBD and surrounds to warm and illuminate the colder weeks.

Tuesday 25 July, 2KW Whisky Dinner Series – Distillers Edition. The second instalment in their whisky series, showcases 5 distilleries ‘distillers editions’. This dinner is designed to highlight the varying characters of whisky and show how it can be matched with a multitude of different foods. Matching for the evening are: GLENKINCHIE (Al Malto D’orzo whiskey cheese, mustard fruits), CAOL ILA (Roast pork belly, brussels sprouts, chestnuts, apple and rosemary mustardo), OBAN (Whole baked Snapper, sitr-fry mushrooms, cheong fun noodles), DALWHINNIE (Smoked maple Ice cream and banana bread sandwich, banana caramel, pecans), CRAGGANMORE (flavor lead expression).
