Your Destiny Is Calling: Farmers Leap Releases First Sparkling Wine

Farmers Leap have announced the release of their first ever sparkling wine, Destiny NV Brut. From humble origins and generations of Padthaway agriculture, Scott and Cheryl of Farmers Leap took a ‘leap’ of faith into winemaking, and the Destiny Sparkling is the sixth varietal to be released – a perfect complement to the Farmers Leap family.

Joining the Random Shot range, and the Farmers Leap Chardonnay, Shiraz, and the flagship wine, The Brave, Destiny will be released just in time for the warmer months, and the celebration season.

Winemaker Peta Baverstock teamed up with Farmers Leap winemaker Renae Hirsh to create Destiny.

After learning the art of Sparkling Wine for almost a decade and travelling to Champagne, France, Peta returned to South Australia with an abundance of knowledge, and was the perfect fit for Farmers Leap’s first venture into bubbles territory.

Destiny is 100% Chardonnay grapes, hand-picked and Estate Grown in Padthaway. Taking advantage of Padthaway’s semi-maritime climate and terrarossa soil, Peta and Renae have captured the essence of the region in this bubbly white.

Aromas of lemon, grapefruit and citrus blossom are complemented by quince, almond nougat and a refreshing acid on the palate, for a real all occasions sparkling wine.

Sparkling Winemaker Peta Baverstock said she was excited to be working with Renae and the Farmers Leap team, and very proud of the outcome.

“Sparkling white has always been a passion of mine – and with a name like Destiny you know it is going to be special,” she said.

“Destiny is just that – a wine that I made meticulously, that has been a joy to arrive to the final myriad of flavours and layers.

Scott Longbottom of Farmers Leap, is excited to launch the new label.

“I am very proud to be launching Farmers Leap into a new varietal, and going on a new journey with our wines. Sparkling is the perfect wine to be launching into the summer and festive season – and I have no doubt the wine will be enjoyed,” Scott said.

Destiny is available at the Farmers Leap Cellar Door, select fine wine retailers and will soon be available online with free delivery, from RRP$20.
