2015 is shaping up to be a great year for the Marie Clark Musical Theatre company. Firstly, at the recent Adelaide Theatre Guide ‘Curtain Call’ Awards, they were awarded Best Ensemble (Amateur) and Best Musical (Amateur) 2014/15 for their critically acclaimed smash hit production of Young Frankenstein at the end of 2014.

Secondly, their October production is surging forward: FAME – The Musical.

It is nothing short of a global phenomenon. First came the hit motion picture, then the long-running television series. Now the screen sensation of the 1980’s is the stage sensation of the 1990’s and beyond! And if the recent smash-hit West End production is any indication, FAME – The Musical is indeed “gonna live forever”.

Set during the last years of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), FAME – The Musical is a bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of gruelling artistic and academic work. With humour and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today: issues of prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance.

FAME 1MCMT’s version is directed by Chris Daniels (Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein), musically directed by Ben Stefanoff, with choreography by Ali Walsh and Vanessa Redmond. The season will be at the Goodwood Institute, 166 Goodwood Road, Goodwood from 23 -31 October 2015.

To help raise funds to assist in putting on FAME – the musical, a great fun fundraiser has been mounted.
